A sticky situation for outdoor cable routing??

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Calibri, Geneva, sans-serif]Apart of a job requires a run of cable from a point fed by existing flat PVC/PVC cable outside with the further run extending at ceiling height a of the ground floor. The client would prefer the cabling to be out ofsight and conveniently the building has brick fascia at ground floorlevel and tiling covering the wall at first floor level. There isspace to place flat cable into the gap under the bottom row of tiles and I was wondering about any type of glue fixing thatmight be used to secure the cable into the gap.

Wouldreally appreciate advice.[/FONT]

cannot do. along the bottom of a wall is not in a prescribed zone.

It would be outdoors at about 2.5m height from the ground. The two ends of the run and the bottom edge of the cable would be clearly visible. Its at the bottom of a tiled section of the wall but far from the bottom or the wall.

ah. your oP seemed to suggest burying cable indoors. for outside, either use SWA or T/E in conduit. if using SWA you will need to connect to the T/E in adaptable box/es. make sure the armour is properly glanded and earthed.

I think I may be able to fit 3 core hituf cable under the tiles but would still appreciate advice on types of adhesive to use which wont affect the composition of the insulation.

are you able to clip or drill and fix? don't like the idea of adhesive. it'll either degrade the cable or fall off, or both.

That was my concern. The trouble is that the gap between the tiles and the wall is small your comment really made me think. I guess that I could cut clips so that so that just the part of the clip immediately around the nail would be left and this could be used to keep the cable up behind the tiles with the effect that the tiles would keep the cable in place.

This would mean that there might be no need for glue but I'd still be interested in any thoughts on which adhesives would and wouldn't degrade cables

Could you not just get a strip of thin facia / sofit /batten and fix it underneath the gap, so that the cable ends up laying on it?

Major flaw in that the blue would clash on the wall. lol.

I think that the clipped clips idea may work best but otherwise I like the idea of a form of sealant type adhesive that would hold the cable while permitting its extraction at a time when it is needed.

wondering if there is a suitable compromise between the sticks like ---- and the tacs like blue suggestions.

(also concerned that bluetac and certain adhesives may lack performance in frosty conditions).

and glue them under the tiles and push the cable into place.
or use silicone sealant that would be a nightmare to hold the cable until set but easy(ish) to remove or use cable tec glue that may not hold very well but should be OK for outside.
