Just changing a double socket and there's a green and yellow cable getting in the way so I just cut it off and socket still works. Hope that's ok ???

Yep get rid of it. The socket will work perfectly well without it, and anyway, if its just stuck in the earth then its not going anywhere or doing anything, so is useless. I think people just connect them to the socket to stop it falling off the wall when the red and black wires fall out.

Although the gas pipe may no longer require the bonding, it should really be terminated correctly or completely disconnected at the other end...

But if it's a looper shouldn't I have 2 hot wires just at the switches? Why two hot wires at the light? Sorry if it's a silly question
