Don't think i've ever connected the 'earths' i was always told it was bad practice...

yep...do away with it...its a spare fault path....you will still have a decent path should it go to fault so i wouldn`t worry too much about it...

Only if the socket is made of metal, you could have just coiled it up in the back out of the way, just incase a live or neutral goes down one day so you have a spare core :tongue3:

Yep get rid of it. The socket will work perfectly well without it, and anyway, if its just stuck in the earth then its not going anywhere or doing anything, so is useless. I think people just connect them to the socket to stop it falling off the wall when the red and black wires fall out.
