Hi new to this forum so thought I would pick your brains on this recently done a eicr on a cafe during my inspection process noticed the Firemans switch was mounted the wrong way so the off position would have to be pulled down in case of emergency as apposed to the up position I gave it a c2 was I too harsh and just gave it a c3 as I guess in the advent of an emergency it could cause some confusion to services as it's main isolater to the neons and sign be nice to find out your thoughts on it ps there was no reason what so ever to put it the way it was it actually would of been easier to installed it correctly the person who installed it must of been a right nanna
 
i'd be more inclined to a C3, but await other comments. i can see where you think it could be a potential danger, but if it's clearly marked ON/OFF, then i'd lean towards a C3.
 
I'd give it 2, in the event of a fire, they want the electric off ASAP, some fireman doesn't want to be fannying around trying to switch it off.

You might get the work to turn it around as well! :)
 
anyway, they're called firefighters switches under amendment 1. don't be sexist. :sunny:

I can't imagine a fireman coming to a blazing building at night time spending much time looking for on/off markings on a switch. He's just gonna whack the switch in the same direction he always whacks fireman's switches. In my opinion. Daz
 
Not really come across many firefighters switches, but i always assumed you had to pull the lever down anyway to isolate? as in am emergency the firefighter would use hes hook and pull the lever down?
 
Knocked up with the axe for 'Off'. Pulled back down after the reset pin is pushed in for 'On' Daz
