Hi all.

Decided on the above van bout torn between 1.6 or 2 litre. Anybody had any experience with either.

I've heard that 1.6's do turbos?

Thanks

Paul

if the 2.0l is the HDI engine, it's a good engine. go for that 1. no need for a turbo, they only break.

Hi a couple of tips on how to look after turbos, petrol or diesel. Always change engine oil at required service interval engine oil lubes turbo bearings and they spin at over 100,000 rpm. Cold starts always let idle for 30 seconds before driving and wait untill engine up to temp before panning it!. If driving on motorway when pulling into services let engine idle for 2 minutes to let turbo cool as it is probably glowing internally and if turned off when that hot said oil lubing turbo turns to constancy of treacle.
I owned a citroen xantia 1.9 td for six years, every morning had to wait 30 secs for suspension to raise , part exchanged it with 185,000 miles on clock never had turbo issues at all, in fact garage kept it as there run about. The guy who serviced it for me specialised in citroen pergeot and told me he had never had to replace a turbo on one of these cars, engines yes turbos no also was still servicing 1.9 td xantias with approaching 300.000 mile on clock original turbo. I wonder if having to wait that 30 seconds every morning for suspension had anything to do with it. maybe, maybe not.

only if you want 0-60 in <10secs.
i thought it was nought to tasty in 30 seconds:

Just bought the 2l and its a cracking van. Loads of torque low down.

Have the berlingo at the minute though, and that has the 2.0 hdi in it and not had one problem with it over the last 3 years since i bought it. Didn't have any service history either so god only knows how well its been serviced either.
