We doing a high school canteen at moment and guy in charge doing install said thy waiting for panel to be delivered and fitted. They could get away with with say 2 x 12 way tp-n boards so why get a panel that fills a full cupboard ??? Isit for fault current . Just want o know why they would choose a panel.

there would`v been no nonsense in the old days:

and there would`v been no `please sir, can i have some more` either.....

Spot on with the panel board and pretty obvious that there are unknown factors.

Regarding the diversity, try a major school kitchen any morning of a working week. It is hectic and everything is operating. Did some work on one last year (6mm 4 core pyro blown) with 5 3ph ranges all operating on full, 2 extras (one down) on standby and then there's the ovens, warmers, etc. It's that 3 or 4 hour period. 400amp MCCB.

Them kids want their din dins. lol.

Well there's no accounting for bad design, is there!! lol!! Lost count of the amount of commerical kitchens on the various projocts i've been involved with, and diversisty has Alway's played a role, in the design to the supplies to these kitchens.

Nothing bad by the initial designer, I'll wager. It's when the initial installation is 20-30 years old, and there have been that many additions, etc...but who's bothered about supply facilities.

Well you didn't say anything about that in your original post, using this as an example!! Design of electrical installations in commercial environments should be ongoing, taking into account was is existing and what is being proposed in the way of additions or updating etc....

Panel ain't here yet, not that il get to touch as stuck in grid ceiling fitting trunking.lol

but he has out through order saying swa used as earth, investigation needed.... Il not be signing off if they don't pull in earth was his words... 70mm 4c

Just his words.. Probably too get more money, where if they tested it , could be good for another 30 years.

What way would you test the armour is fine. Or what way would you test it.... I'd say work out its approximate length and check resistance. Or check to see if ze has changed from last test sheets??? Do you feel the same
