Here are some "issues" i've recently discovered during inspections/ testing.

These are by no means the worst.

Pic 1 ,,Very common occourance

Pic 3 ,, Looks like an oven with 2 supplies, so it at least had 1 earth.
 
far too many cowboys doing pat testing that dont even have a basic knowledge of what to look for.

kick these wanna be electricians in the nuts n tell them where to go...
 
If PATesters had been given the job of proving equipment Millenium bug prove, we'd all be dead from starvation, in filthy clothes, in a freezing cold house, with no lights on (not necessarily in that order)
 
I think we can all agree the PAT environment has been abused and has been allowed to be controlled by the badge it companies and given the green light by the Schemies.

I have to offer it as a service due to my business and I am lucky enough not to have to do a lot of it as I only do rentals but when I do I am dismayed at the poor standards ie 12 items in a rental property and 3-4 either have the wrong fuse or a broken cord grip all an extra charge from me plus I give the landlord an equipment register and documentation so they have an audit trail. I would like to think it will get sorted out but all I can do is offer a better service that keeps me in work
