Started a EICR on a school today, 75% rewire 4-5 years ago by a local firm. Oh my word. It's dinner on day one and its crap.
No earth sleeping in sockets, old cables with tape live above ceilings, they have come off a old fuse board and to earth the T&E they have twisted 10 earths together and crimped them into a 25mm lug and just self tapped it (loosely) to the DB frame.
For safe isolation of the old DBs (which are still connected, fuses not even removed from switched fuses) they have just put a piece of white tape saying "Don't switch on" over the leaver. The other ends of these cables are not terminated and are just cut off above ceilings.

shocking.
anybody else having fun on the schools this summer?

We do all The council buildings on Anglesey. I'll be taking as many pictures as I can. I wish I knew which company did it because there is not a sticker in sight! I have my suspicions though. I'll pass all pictures on to the property manager at the council along with the test report.

If its a school and it was a large job ie. a majority rewire it should have had Clark of Electrical Works over-seeing the job, id question how much of what you find is vandalism by the kids (like your pic), how much is the 25% old install that in all honesty should have been tested and assessed and how much is through poor installation by said company.

I would be asking how much moolah was stuffed into the Clerk of Electrical Works back pocket to look the other way.

The lack of sleeving didn't **** me off the most in that picture. It's the fact Every socket in the school has twisted earths! My pet hate! Makes r1+r2s a nightmare!! To be fair the head of the electrical department at the council is good at his job and was a decent spark. Was more than likely somebody else who checked this out for them.
