in the picture theres no earth at the socket above the worktop, the earth is broken from the JB to the socket somewhere and is not accessable. can I run a single earth between the two sockets.its a 20 amp radial cct.

You need to find that junction box as it may be the earth has just not been connected for that socket.
If the cable is damaged then I would remove (or at least disconnect) that cable and run a full new cable from the lower socket to the upper, then you have no problems with a fault on the hidden cable.

PS check on top of the cupboard ... you'll be surprised how often you find a joint feeding the sockets on there... thanks to years of kitchen fitters with little electrical knowledge.

3/10 for the artwork btw..... :28:

would like to disconnect from JB & higher socket then connect higher & lower sockets with new cable but cant remove cupboards to find JB so I can disconnect cable with broken or disconnected earth.

Id be inclined to drop the cupboard down (empty first ;) ) and do some digging don't be scared of a little extra work.. you can hide your mess with the cupboard after although id still make good if it was me.

Important though to isolate socket circuit first you may disturb the damage and blow the circuit or even find the hanging rail or screw live!!!!

Hence this shouldn't be just ignored.

i agree with mr. burns , no point repairing a cable not in the perscribed safe zone to begin with , may just get hit again at a later date.
install new cable from socket below and leave old cable disconnected at j.b.

Is this one of them 6mm old cooker supplies jointed in the old cooker flush box and plastered over?
If so is the fuse still 30a?
How do you know the integrity of the L and N joints.
Will the joint and the 2.5mm cable stand up to the proposed load.
For the safety of your customer and your reputation you need to find the joint or re wire the whole lot.
Should it not be a ring anyway...............kitchen/loads?????

Boydy

Load on cct

Fridge-500w-on permanently
Freezer-500w-on permanently
Microwave-800w-only used to warm things up
Coffee maker-2000w-used 3 times a day

3800w/230v=16.5amp

its a 20amp radial in 2.5mm2 T&E cct
