The station in Glenn's original video is in Australia, where there seem to be more intact sites like this that haven't been looted or bulldozed. My mate Richard who is part of the Electrokinetica team (although he lives in Aus, he's the webmaster etc) has reported back some interesting things.

Keep looking, we need an old power station. I've had a go at commandeering a couple of subs but no success so far! It's much easier to move vacuum cleaners, irons and radios into an old turbine hall than to move a turbo-alternator into a radio showroom. My ideal site would be an old electrical factory in a location that's not good for housing development, with its own PS, next to a large cinema that's been closed for 40 years. No luck so far...

there was the old Whitehall electric lighting station in Leeds...

the CEGB had used it for a training centre for years...now sadly its gone....they built a post office centre on it...

Kirkstall power station was another candidate for a museum...built 1933...a private venture...

it closed down in 1979 i think...thats gone as well but so far the land hasn`t been built on...asbestos contamination

both these units would have been suitable as industrial museums...

lack of foresight at the time i suppose....but there you go...

Guess I can consider myself semi lucky to be involved in decommissioning nuclear power stations and getting to see a lot of the 50s controls, distribution gear,panel work etc.....before spending days decabling it. The video in OP is not to dissimilar

Anything made by Parsons would still be working even if the building fell on it, rock solid heavy stuff

the original turbine launch that he built to showcase his new invention at the 1897 naval review at spithead still exists....

Indeed it is, I used to work there.
The Cell rooms where they extract the chlorine from the Cheshire brine are something else!

Here's a pic of my own baby Parsons turbine, built 1951, 4MW(e) output. I don't have the alternator, only the turbine, plan is to raise the upper casing on pillars and have the shaft turning slowly so you can see the rotors moving.

Yes, what you see is what you get, just the turbine, steam valve and a few ancillaries. It had been driving a test bed at Parsons Newcastle plant after the mine it powered was closed. IIRC the condenser was scrapped but the turbine was in reasonable nick so they kept hold of it.
