hi
i have just been to look at an installation that needs a ground spike.
i have never done one before , apart from the spike do i need to do anything else to make the board comply. Do i need to change the rcd?

Hi Jammar. I've removed the poll from your thread because it isn't really a debate that lends itself to voting so it would have probably caused confusion.

A photo or two of the existing earthing arrangement and the head etc would be good.

Usually the supply authority or DNO would provide an earth with the supply. If there's an existing system that isn't suitable for PME then adding extra rods could be dangerous so make sure you're 100% clear on the existing arrangement before you do anything rash.

Early days yet, maybe he can pull a rabbit from a hat when he gives us more info. You never know, maybe he's TT'ing the installation because of a vehicle charging point or for some other valid reason. Unless you're currently on a course (or apply as a mentor) you won't qualify for the trainee forum and he doesn't really sound like a DIY'er.
