Doing a eicr today and the neighbours have 2.5 twin and earth coming from upstairs down the external wall about 10' to just above ground level and horizontal along behind the fence into the the conservatory. The cable is basically in the customers patio area on the wrong side of the boundary. The outer pvc cable has started deteriorating as well. Any thoughts?

It's a cable, it's not ogling their sunbathing daughter so they're unlikely to object.
The degradation is a different matter, only you have seen it mate. it's difficult to advise you.

Yes, it's on the wrong side of a line. Like I say though, it's a cable not a disputed border between two countries looking for a reason to go to war.

Right now I see what you're getting at I think. The cable on the other side of the boundary belongs to the people who live there?
If that's the case it's not your problem, you're doing the EICR next door. Maybe you should tell them about the degradation though

I was doing the eicr on no. 29, the circuit/ cable belongs to no 27.
How do I know what means of protection they have? It's in a vulnerable position as well. And why should technically they have cables on someone else's property albeit clipped to a wall?

Nice reply trev, lol

The fact that it's on 29s wall is neither here nor there mate, don't worry about it. Tell both partys about it and how it's degrading and then let them sort it out between themselves.

I'm glad me attempt at humour went down well :)

Degrading???...I think it's disgusting to think that some oik thinks it's ok to tack his tatty bit of two point five along somebody's wall without so much as a by-your-leave or thank you!!

Tell the neighbours there cable is past its sell by and tell your client to be wary of it.... If the fence is good n solid then quote for a run of NYY and an adaptable box or two. Sorted!

Can't delete duplicate post..... How do you delete duplicate posts you do when you have an itchy (read sleepy!) trigger finger on your smart phone as you start to doze off!
