Does anyone know the socket size i need to fit the head of the driving nut for a 5/8 earth rod please?

Measure it
1inch is 25.5 mm so 13/14mm will work

The "driving head" is whatever you fit into either the socket (usual) or the threaded end,to protect it from the impact forces of your driving tool/hammer/fist. I have an adapter that fits neatly over a 13.9 capscrew and fits into driving cup welded to a steel 'bit',that is driven by my old modified Hilti TE72. The capscrew is tough enough for several sessions unless you find a hard raisin in your pudding...i could tell you the size of my capscrew,but i would then have to ritually disembowel myself with a turks' dirk...the size of which is ALSO,a secret :thinking:
The bolt I have here (that fits into a 5/8 coupler) has a 1 inch hex head, if that is what you mean.
It may well be 9/16" or 5/8" BSW, depending on the screw used.
