OP I understand what you mean its easier with a diagram as they are simple to interpret but why not try drawing one yourself rather than searching high and low ... it will help you develop a useful skill for future as the more you try it the better and easier it becomes to take things from you head to paper.

as darkwood said try drawing it yourself. when i was training i was encouraged to draw out new circuits that i came across to help me understand them. i still find a couple of minutes spent drawing a problem circuit helps when fault finding.

In terms of connections there are two ways of doing it - you can have the keyswitch just cut the permanent feed, leaving all the lights on but the emergency lights in emergency mode, or you can have the keyswitch cut all the live feeds so you can easily see which emergency fittings are illuminated.
Again, it'll be slightly different if you're wiring it in singles.

A Few issues with the cut live method Adam....you put the building in darkness, and in this day and age of no win no fee suing. I personally would not recommend. Em light should be identified by number, makes id easier on testing and replacing....saves telling the poor spark to replace the light, by the staircase next to the lift, outside the md`s office. Alot easier to say replace light fitting number 6

IIRC the last time different methods of wiring emergency lighting were discussed it got pretty heated.
I agree the 'cut live method' isn't the best in all situations, ie turning nearly all the lights off in an officefull of women can cause them to panic and moan, but if you can get into a room to do the test when it's unoccupied it's easier to see what's going on if only the emergency lights are on.
If possible the test should be done during daylight hours when there's enough natural light for safe evacuation, although if the emergency lighting system doesn't do that then it needs improving.
