Hello All
My query is about installation reference methods.
Specifically how to choose a reference method where twin and earth cable passes through various conditions when none of the methods seem to fit actual site conditions.
Site conditions are domestic situations where I find myself...
Hello All
Can any one provide non sarcastic suggestions as to why an 8.5kw shower has not tripped the 32amp mcb protecting that circuit?
Found this install in a domestic property. It seems to have been there for years, without out issue.
Thanks

Ah ha! Yes and yes.
So the
...orange wire going to the relay goes to A1,
And I have a neutral going from A2 to the neutral bar in the consumer unit.
Then I have a live taken from the ring main mcb going to relay position 1 and finally
a cable going from relay position 2 to position 10...
Thanks all....
I didn't alter any wiring but found a neutral to earth fault which made the RCD trip weirdly. Personally I think it's the way wylex wired up the box. Instead of each neutral from RCD going to the main neutral bar and then to the main switch wylex wired it so that RCD 1 neutral...
I have completed all tests and for the new circuit and all pass. Insulation resistance OK. Zsok, polarity etc.
I am not entirely familiar with these relays how ever I do believe I have wired it up correctly.
I.e.
A signal wire from system comes to relay and then to neutral activating coil...
Hello All
I'm currently wiring up an underfloor heating manifold to an s plan system.
the heating boiler takes its power off a ring main in a new loft.
All circuits in the split consumer unit are RCD protected.
I'm following the wiring diagram given in honey well wiring booklet ed 16. Page 14...
HELLO ALL
i am changing over a cu.
i have conducted basic testing before deciding to change over to a dual RCD wylex 17th ed board.
The board's RCDs and main switch were prewired.
The neutral cable comes out of one rcd and into another and out again from the same terminal and directly back...
To all those removed with the sarcastic comments...Up YOURS!
NO one is born with knowledge we all have to go through a learning process. I thought this was the place for advice to help achieve a better standard and working practice but judging by some of your comments clearly not.

Guys,
let me explain my question again because none of you seem to have understood what i asked.
I can get to the light switch with a length of twin and earth which will lead to the new light. I want to know if it is acceptable to wire it up in SERIES. However because it's in SERIES I am...
Hello Guys,
is there an acceptable safe way to add and wire in a small 35wat light from an existing light switch.
I was thinking to put the light in series but however if I do that, wont that light be taking all the amps that are passing through the light switch. at the moment that switch only...
Gentlemen, i just like to mention this.
this site is of great value and in this day and age with hardly any apprentiships and few engineers willing to take on a young spark under their wing it is even more valued. ALl your opionion and even the occasioanl rant is taken with my appreciation and...
