Combining Two 12v DC PSU Outputs for 24v

I'd buy a dedicated 24v psu. I can't see it working with the existing psu.

Hyundai dhy12500se Generator Issues with 1000w MH Lights

I'd suspect its power factor thats the issue.

Combining Two 12v DC PSU Outputs for 24v

I imagine that all the negatives are linked (and probably the positives too), so linking two outputs in series would just cause it to go pop.

    fix the radio

Got to agree its really annoying!

    Electrical supply cable.

Likely to be a paper insulated lead sheath cable. The outer jacket is a type of cloth which I think is soaked in bitumin. Used by the electrical supply authorities until the mid 1960's when pvc insulation took over.

    No earth or neutral

So you were getting 230V to neutral and cpc when they were disconnected, yet there's no fault?

    No earth or neutral

Probably a neutral - cpc fault on the cable causing an upfront RCD to operate. Someone has disconnected it to remove the fault. The outbuilding probably worked with the neutral and cpc disconnected due to the neutral current being diverted through extraneous metal parts in the outhouse. Was...

    EICR - made me laugh

Hard to tell now that the test results page has been removed. Makes a change to see the codings being on the more lenient side rather than dishing out C1's and C2's for non dangerous items.

    Emergency Lighting contactor switch over

You could, but why not just move the emergency circuit to the same circuit breaker as the local lights? You could put a test switch next to the dB.

    Career paths

It depends whether you want to stay on the tools or go desk based. If you want to stay on the tools, the inspection and testing C&G 2391is a good and well recognised qualification. If you fancy a more supervisory role, the design course might then be worth doing (used to be C&G 2396 or...

RCD protection for cables above a plasterboard ceiling

It's 522.6.201 and 522.6.204 that give the answer. As I read it, it's either 50mm in, or an earthed metallic covering that is required.

    Storage heaters

The wiring diagram shows separate neutrals for each supply. You should be ok but phone the technical department if you're in doubt.

PSCC on 460V Split Phase Supply

I'm pretty sure you should double the PSCC in this case. I was taught about split phase 180deg supplies, but I've never worked on an installation supplied with one.

    Vaillant Ecotec 630 plus Wiring

Have you got 230V at RT? Try removing the grey wire and link the RT terminals together. Has the boiler got gas? Is the system up to pressure? Is the boiler going through a venting cycle?

    Obsolete Timeguard PIR

Many thanks. I think this will be the only way to do it without rewiring the PIR's

    Obsolete Timeguard PIR

Many thanks for looking it up. Unfortunately the system that I was asked to repair is a two wire system.

    Obsolete Timeguard PIR

Can you still buy the PIRs though?

    Obsolete Timeguard PIR

The existing PIR cables are only two core, so probably not unfortunately.

    Obsolete Timeguard PIR

Cheers Tel. Voltek looks good, thanks. I couldn't find GED online though. EDIT: Just noticed the Voltek needs three wires. Unfortunately the existing installation only has two.

    Obsolete Timeguard PIR

A potential customer has an external light control system originally manufactured by Timeguard. There's a controller in the loft space which has a 2 core cable to each PIR which seems to be a bus wire. The PIR's are now failing, part number: SL099. I've found them on Google but they are...
