    FIT Payment Delays

Thanks Worcester for the info. Reading through the information regarding the chain of events from submitting FIT reading to payment being typically 6 weeks basically underpins the SSE timescale albeit they took 8 weeks. They must have changed their process perhaps because typically all...

    FIT Payment Delays

Update on this thread I started recently. I decided to email SSE with a complaint inasmuch I hadn't received a confirmation email re the generation meter reading submitted on 1st Jan. Or more importantly a payment. I received an email dated 19th Feb confirming my reading received. Payment...

    FIT Payment Delays

Hi - i passed over my generation meter reading to SSE on 2nd Jan 14 and to date no payment into my bank account. I called the SSE FIT team a couple of weeks ago and they stated that they were currently processing readings passed over on 4th Dec 13. Has there been a sudden surge in installations...

    Inverter Cooling

My SMA 4000TL inverter is fitted in my bungalow loft space and whilst I haven't as yet had any problems I am aware that the unit is getting hot and doing its best via its built in fan/s to cool itself. I am considering using a in line 4" extractor fan akin Manrose bathroom type with ducting to...

Permission to remove lop trees ? to have PV installed south face roof

Hi you might find you get a postive answer as it is widely recognised by tree preservation groups etc that cutting back the canopy of a tree by up to a third can promote its heallth and longetivity. I was involved in a building project that required an established oak with a base trunk...

    Error 35 on SMA

If I am reading this right - I am assuming the Inverter is checking leakage to earth which in the case of the wet conditions suggested would either be via a wet connector or a chaffed cable? The 1000Kohm threshold (1Megohm) at 320 volts say would only mean some 0.3 Millamps is leaking to...

    Snow Alvalanche from Panels

Having already cleared several inches of snow from one ofour paths this morning, it wasn’t long before a “whoosh” noise and yes you have guessed it the snow decided to avalanche off the panels and deposit itself on the clear path. Moral of the story – don’t be too eager to clear the path. But...

    Immersion Heater Controller

Hi Folks – there has been a lot of info re Immersion Heater Controllers on this forum and as I was updating and drawing up the circuit etc I used for mine I thought I would share the info with you. I realise that its design and facilities will never compete with the likes of Immersun but having...

    First Anniversary Generation figures

Thanks Worcester - good idea and should give members confidence that their systems are performing ok. Willl be interesting to see how things develop as installations age etc. I will post some figures from another friend (yes I have two) whose 3.75Kw system SE facing is due to get to its first...

    First Anniversary Generation figures

Today my 4kw system has reached its 1st anniversarywith a pleasing 3338 KwH generated in last 12 months. System is 16 Hyundai 250Wpanels facing due west and SMA 4000TL. This is some 433w over the SAP, which I suppose is normnowadays. My friends 4Kw system, which is split equally east, &...

East West or a mix of the two debate

Posted a thread earlier this year giving a comparison of total outputs of a friends 4kW system to that of mine. We are located within 200yds of each other in north Essex. He has 10 Suntech 250W panels, 8 facing due east the othe 8 due west connected to a SMA 4000TL Inverter. Mine 16 Hyundai 250W...

    Contactor type for immersion?

Hi Steve The Omron version I would opt for is the G7L-2A-TUB. This has two plastic slotted lugs at the lower edge of its outer case which makes mounting a doddle without any further brackets/mountings etc. This relay also uses the standard 1/4" connectors and I used the yellow coloured fully...

    Contactor type for immersion?

Hi - have a look at the Omron G7L series of relays. The 12 violt coil version draws about 140mA to operate. If you opt for the 2A version of the relay it has twin contacts rated up to 25amps at 277 vac so plenty of scope for a 1Kw immersion right up to the normal 3kW immersion

    Schuco Rail End Caps required

I would like to neaten up the ends of the Schuco MountingRails fitted to my bungalow by fitting the plastic blank end caps. The Railtype is BP160S and the info I have suggests the End Caps BP160S is what Irequire. The normal supply quantity from Segen etc is 50 but I need just 8 if anybody can...

3KW peak on 4kwh system in this Sunny weather..is there a fault?

Although sunshine levels exactly the same over the last two days, todays output slightly lower overall than yesterday when the wind from the east was keeping the panels slightly cooler I guess. Seems to reinforce the issue over panel temp and rated output

    East or West

If you cannot face panels south and have just the choice of east or west or combination of both, what’s best? I thought I would offer some generation figures based on a friend’s and mine 4kW installations completed last November. We are located within 300 yards of each other in North Essex...
