Well he has added a socket and a spur from the existing ring in the kitchen so I thought this should be notifiable? Also he has put a socket on a cooker outlet that is not RCD protected and the cooker isolator cannot be screwed back and is hanging out the wall so would fail an EICR.
As its only...
Evening.
Was asked to carry out a test (non registered kitchen fitter installed circuits) so could only offer EICR on those circuits although what they really wanted was an install and Part P.
EICR would fail anyway so am walking away from that one, but do you know if anyone follows it up as a...
So if a £150 EICR failed on something like the gas bond had come off the clamp then the tester could charge £100 to reconnect as they know it would be cheaper than getting another EICR as that’s the only way they can get a satisfactory certificate without paying another electrician for another...
Yes I agree.
Think they are in the situation of if they want a satisfactory EICR they have to agree to the remedial price or get someone to retest, but then they might fail it on something else and they could be potentially be 2 EICR's down for an unsatisfactory certificate.
You could be in the...
Just been asked to do the repairs on a couple of fails and test some other properties they have got.
If its just a broken socket or something minor like that once i have completed the test I normally just change them if its the difference between a pass and a fail and so far the clients don't...
Hi
If you go behind another electrician who has failed an EICR on something minor, like a couple of broken pendants or something, you carry out the repairs and issue a minor works, the client would then have an unsatisfactory EICR and a minor works cert stating that the C2 items have been...
Hi all.
Did an EICR today on a rented property that had a CU change about 8 years ago.
Found a few things wrong, the main issue really is that a few sockets are fed in 1.5 from the ring and a couple of wall lights are fed of the ring as well in 1.5.
Just wondering how much testing you guys do...
Hello all.
What do you put down as the next test on a brand new industrial install?
I know the recommended interval between EICR's is 3 years for Industrial and 5 years on domestic EICR's but with installs its normally a 10 year cert.
What do you guys put as the next recommended test date on...
I cant see how it worked.
The intermediate has a 3 core from the 2 way, a single that's the switch wire and a twin going down to the other 2 way so there is 6 cores at the intermediate.
Hi
I was asked to change an intermediate and 2 way switch for chrome and some other bits , so fairly straightforward I thought.
About 10 years ago someone converted the landing 2 way to an intermediate by taking a 3 core across the other side of the landing from the switch at the top of the...
Sorry if i'm hijacking this a thread a bit but I have said I will install a Nest thermostat for someone.
I have done many wireless stats a few Salus it500 and one Hive before.
The stats were all battery powered apart from the Hive that had to be plugged into a usb if i remember correctly...
Haven't been asked to quote for it.
Its one of those friend of a colleague at my wife's workplace who knows I'm a electrician kind of deals so wondered what I thought.
Have suggested that they get other quotes and see what they are like.
I cant see that fitting 4 heaters would be 6K if wiring...
