    I May be wrong but i was under the impression that if you change a consumer unit your modifying the circuit, when doing a modification it must meet 17th edition.     I'd pull all cable's back into the loft area make a board up with double suface boxes crimp them in the boxes stick on a blanking and mark up each circuit for anyone coming after. You can't put a fail on an installation cert so you can't do a consumer unit change unless you are going to do all remedial work.     Thanks lenny, just still a little raw about the fact that i lost a weeks work. And trust me as much as you want to do a job right they'll always be some idiot that will come and cut corners. Cheers i'll just have to keep telling myself im fighting for the good guys.

    Copper aluminuim wire????

    I was wiring i shower for a friend today and found what looked to be 10mm t+e but was 6mm and looked like it was silver on the outside and copper in the middle. It all tested out fine just wondering what it was and if its anything i need to be concerned about. Cheers all

    I got full funding working full time but is in the same boat want a jib card although im already fully qualified can't have one. Where abouts you live because the guy who's doing mine wants more people to do it. Obivously he gets paid through grants so more the merrier for him.
