    Help wiring new thermostat (UK)

Not over keen on battery stats for manny reasons, attending a callout for failed batteries in winter when we’re busy is one of them.

Non contact voltage indicator - upgrade

Looked at that, but wasn’t keen on the Voltage range

Non contact voltage indicator - upgrade

Thanks. Yes but I’m told it needs to go down as low as 50Vac, which I’m not sure Fluke do one?

Non contact voltage indicator - upgrade

Hello electricians, My current ncv indicator I think has had it, and wanted an upgrade. I’ve seen this Sagab VOLTSTICK LV50 AC Voltage Detector | eBay - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sagab-VOLTSTICK-LV50-AC-Voltage-Detector/193808447576?hash=item2d1fe23858:g:jSQAAOSw-wZf2zTy on eBay and wanted...

How do I fit a digital thermostat?

Are you certain it’s a combi? You have a dual channel programmer (Drayton LP722). No you can’t use the wiring alone as Nest needs a permanent live and permanent neutral. If indeed it is a combi, then you can use the wiring at the Drayton programmer for the Nest heatlink, and use the wiring at...

    Can I use these?

On a rare occasion, I sometimes have to install a different wireless room thermostat (eg Nest) to an Intergas boiler, which come pre-wired. However on this wiring setup they have used (from memory) female barrel type connectors, and all earthing seems to be of the male type. To save me buying...

    Greater experience/knowledge

I did wonder @Ray Pooley. Thanks for the reply, on both counts. Tbh I think I’ll just stick to my current job. It would seem there’s too much involved for the time being. Thanks to all the others who have replied also.

    Anyone good on appliances?

Yes I did, it’ll turn off and on, and I always unplug it after use. I’ve had the top off today to check for voltage present and also for any visual loose connections, but all seemed to check out ok.

    Greater experience/knowledge

No. You would need acs training and become gas safe registered. I’m guessing this answers my question.

    Anyone good on appliances?

Seem to be having an intermittent fault on my AEG condenser tumble dryer. It occasionally throws up an EH0 code - which states it could be a power supply fault. I use an extension lead (white flex type), which I changed, but it’s still occurring. I’ve been used a plug checker, which states...

    Greater experience/knowledge

I chose Gas/plumbing because my wife said she didn’t want me to be a spark, yet I now have to deal with certain electrical aspects of my job, and I do enjoy it. What I want to know is, how does one build up on knowledge and experience in electrical work. I don’t want to become a full time spark...

Are these of any help? Taken from the Honeywell app, might be worth downloading.

    Boiler wiring

As per @diditrain, you need to specify what was in previously, what has been or is intended to be installed. Vaillant have made various combi boilers, so the model would help. Please do not remove the cover until you know if it forms part of the room seal.

Confused by the shear volume and what to do

I took it to mean going from an automatic crimp tool, to the one where you have to choose the correct crimp size of the variable teeth (for lack of a better word) like these?: Cord End Bootlace Ferrule Terminal Crimper 0.5mm² to 10mm² | eBay -...

Confused by the shear volume and what to do

Without sounding pessimistic, the one @Strima mentioned, I’m concerned it wouldn’t stay on?

Confused by the shear volume and what to do

Good morning all, I mainly work on boiler faults, and repairs. I sometimes have to install wireless thermostats, or renew the fcu switch. I’ve seen a video by an electrician about using a ratchet crimp tool, and a plumber with the same. I’m after some advice as I’m thinking to use bootlace...
