    Circuit Wire For Long Run

    Disconnection times.

    Circuit Wire For Long Run

Reason I ask about disconnection times is that the ground around an energized lamp goes up in voltage (not my pic):

    Circuit Wire For Long Run

Does BS7671 allow an RCD to meet disconnection times in TN? I just can't bring myself to do it.

    Circuit Wire For Long Run

Your guess is as good as mine :) FWIW I'm getting a minimum size of 33.62mm2 copper Phase and Earth.

    Circuit Wire For Long Run

Right, but a trip and reclose from then utility would engage all of them at once I think. Do you have the ohms value for each conductor?

    Circuit Wire For Long Run

Thnaks, but I don't want to use an RCD for disconnection. RCDs can fail and all disconnection in TN systems must be done by the breaker (MCB) itself.

    Circuit Wire For Long Run

Ok, say you've got a lighting run with the last fixture being 1,280 meters away. 1,800 watts per phase 3 phase, 277/480Y volts though in this example we can use 230/400Y for the ease of discussion. My question is- what size wire do I run for each phase and earth? What disconnection time do I...

Arc Fault Detection going global ...

There is no cost benefit. They are just an empty fire extinguisher. EFLI and plug fuses provide 100% parallel and earth arc fault coverage. That leaves serial events, where arcing is the end stage of joule heating assuming combustion has not already started. 90% of all electrical fires start...

Arc Fault Detection going global ...

You kidding? The trojan horse emptied its contents: The goal is 7 billion people living with AFCIs.

    Zone 1, 2 and 3

Where do RCDs fit into all this? Are they effected by either zone or IP rating?

    Zone 1, 2 and 3

Makes sense. Is there by chance a table of what combinations are allowable?

    Zone 1, 2 and 3

What is Zone 1, 2 and 3 in wet locations? What does class 1 mean? Can someone educate on why, what and how this applies to kitchens and bathrooms?

    63 amp socket Table 41.1

Sadly, not everyone follows the regs, standards or understands what they are doing.

    63 amp socket Table 41.1

India has one of the most beautiful electrical systems on earth, minus all the DIY of course.

    63 amp socket Table 41.1

My understanding is that in India, all final circuits are required to disconnect in 0.4 seconds or less. Personally I like the idea. An exception for 5 seconds is needed for sub circuits though- 60 amp life safety feeder must selectively coordinate with the final OCPDs.
