Because it’s been very poorly installed. An biomass designed for inside a boiler house that’s been installed outside. Plus the lady is getting on a bit and doesn’t want the hassle of it anymore!
The buffer is staying because it’s too muck of a fire risk to cut it up, not to mention it would be a...
You’re right, I forgot to mention that! Distance isn’t really an issue. The boiler will be about 4-5 metres away. One external wall, constructed of sandstone if I remember correctly, about a metre thick??? The buffer tank is in a cupboard constructed of hypericum. It’s pretty much a direct line...
Can anyone recommend a wireless relay to trigger an oil boiler. Currently there is a huge buffer tank which is heated by a log fired biomass. The boiler is being replaced with an oil boiler, but the buffer tank is staying, as the tank was installed during a renovation which means the tank would...
There’s only two three phase loads, rest single phase. I’ll probably price it using the Schneider KQ boards. The SPD isn’t an issue, that will be fed off the panel board. The problem is if another firm just ends up pricing using RCBO’s only, that’s about 5 grand difference in cost!! A quick...
I’m hoping to pick the brains of someone who can help me with a tender query for a commercial property. The designer has specc’d AFDD’s for all 44 outgoing ways on a three phase D.B. The specc’d board is a Hager, not that that really matters though. I’m not 100%, but I think AFDD’s are all 2...
Whenever I’m on Instagram, I always see posts from sparks in the good old US of A, and whenever you see a conduit system install, there are always loads of individual conduits running alongside each other....do they not use trunking over the pond? Don’t get me wrong, it looks super impressive...
Why wouldn’t you? End of the day it gives you the proper IP rating, and you’ll probably have a gland in your van anyway? I’m not clued up on TT systems but for the sake of a few pence, I’d be putting a 32mm ct gland in.
My guys were testing a 500ma time delayed RCD today with our Fluke tester, can’t remember the model, 1556???
I had a go and couldn’t get it to trip either. The tester was set to time delayed setting, 500mA, did the 30s countdown but didn’t trip. Am I doing something wrong?? And yes I was...
Thanks guys, I didn’t think there was another way, but you never know, so I thought I’d ask.
I’m pretty restricted on height, so an extension box wouldn’t work, but I’m not too bad for width. MCCB panel is what I priced for.

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has an alternative way of fusing sub mains other than fitting an MCCB panel? Basically I have a sub main to a laundry block, and one to a toilet block. There may be a db fitted next to the proposed panel in the future so I need to leave allowance.
I can’t think...

I charge £40 plus £18 per circuit for the first 10 circuits then £10 for each circuit after that, as more than likely they'll be heating circuits. That's for a letting agent who has never questioned the price so I guess it must be fair?

The only problem with that is that I would need to continue the armour onto the second and third bollards. But I guess I would have that problem even when glanced to the brass plate. Also, is there an arguement that if the bollard was knocked over the cable would pull through the stuffing gland...
Looking for a bit of guidance and how people go about connecting caravan pitches. Basically there is a PME supply on site which will be used to supply the toilet block and septic tank etc but I'm looking for guidance on how to terminate the hookups. There is a 16mm 3core armour run out to feed 3...
I had this problem with a monsoon fan. I ended up using the brown as perm live, black as neutral and grey as sw live. Seemed to do the trick!

I recently had this scenario on a eicr where the fan was sited 600mm up from the top of a bath. I was ready to code it a c2 but looked at the zones and ended up not coding it. Certainly wouldn't be me putting a fan there!!
