The original was harder, no open book and the pass rate was so low they scrapped the course. Now bought it back and made it easier to pass with an open book.
The only thing that's really changed is the standard of work, its a lot poorer than 20 years ago. I would not work as a mate or anything to get back in the swing of it. Do the 18th edition in evening at a college so its last about 12 weeks and get yourself an onsite guide and get out there. Your...
Get on site and learn how to form, set and bend tube, you won't learn it on a forum or in a book, but if you really want the books do a proper apprenticeship with a JIB company. To many people trying to enter this game through the back door and don't want to work for apprentice money and put the...
I've got training books on conduit, tray and plenty of other stuff from the 80's when I was an apprentice under CITB / JIB
But the books go hand in hand working on site with a skilled Electrician showing you the way to bend and form conduit.
Limited companies have to work in real time, monthly declarations to hmrc ie people wages including deductions etc.
You can have your salary, then corporation tax is paid on company profits then you can take £2,000.00 in dividends then anymore and your taxed on them on a personal level.
Your...
All I say is, there's a lot more people out there, mates, improver's, sparks who are always looking for work. Its not what you might think and being told. I belong to a lot of groups and this forum is a tiny tiny fraction of people that are in the industry.
The game is being saturated and I...
I would just go down the route of what papers are needed for a Gold Card. Don't matter people's opinions are, all what matters is once you get a Gold Card it opens doors for work. Employers, Agencies they all ask for Gold Card not what papers got you the card.
Any dividends over £2000 you pay 7.5% tax on, on a personal level.
Worked for Shoregroup and BMSL and never had a problem.
Most agencies are fine, but if your time sheet don't get signed/submitted by the company you work for you don't get paid its that simple.
If you have a JIB card you don't need a CSCS card you just need to keep your H & E side of things up to date to keep the ECS side of it up to date because its all affiliated to the CSCS.
Employ an Electrician is the best advice so can not believe people are offering advice over the forum with out even seeing the work in question. No wonder the industry is in such a mess, should of said the domestic side of it.
No-ones an Electrician unless they can do Domestic, Commercial, Industrial. No such thing as an Domestic Installer, its come about to generate money for schemes, nothing more nothing less.
Keep away from domestic works, its a waste of time and anyone can have a go at it. Its saturated with chancer's who can't get into commercial and industrial.
