    DNO says RCD not required

Possibly, he is only installing Main breaker on the DNO side, and i suppose it would be up to the installer to put in a board with RCD/RCBO, etc to protect the circuits.

    Ir tests

Surely if the Line conductor was snagged on the CPC/Earthed metalwork there would be an extremely low reading due to the fact no insulation is between the conductors and they are forming a circuit!!!! Technicaly giving you a R1+R2 reading??

    Upstairs Fuseboard

Personnel opinion is put all in one board on the ground floor as stated above, unless you really need to have an upstairs i.e. seperate flat, rented etc... Doesnt make sense all this messig around when you can just extend the circuits to the lower level.

Mine is already done, if the DNO ask ill say wife has started a few DIY jobs around the house :hurray:, get out of jail free card !!! NICEIC Certification Scheme niceic approved contractor

I think its good to be an approved contractor, peace of mind for the customer too knowing the guy sorting his electrics is not the local pig farmer :) How much it cost these days for annual fee?

    Cost for 5 downlights guys

You need to get a spark to look at it, if the circuit has no RCD, then one is fitted and it keeps tripping/doesnt pass testing, circuit needs rewiring then you are talking a few more pennies then £80 quid, that would be coming out of your pocket for not qouting correctly too remember!!! If all...

    Ir tests

Check all connections are tight and have a good amount of conductor in the terminal, this can sometimes lower your reading.

If you have the knowledge and understanding of how things should be done proffesionally...

Why EIC ? The EIC is to be used only for the intial certification of a new installation or for an addition or alteration to an existing installatoin were new circuits have been introduced? I am chainging light fitting (in effect) not altering any circuits or making new ones. So a Minor works...
