    Icelandic Electrical Installation.

Hi all. I’m just wondering if anyone has done any work in Iceland? I’ve got a chance of going out there for a while. The work involves some electrics but by no means, all. The more sparking I do, the better it’s paid. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Basic differences, cables...

    ‘Chime Site’ App. Questions/Concerns.

Hi all. Long shot… but does anyone use the ‘Chime Site’ app for work? It’s an app that you sign in and out of a site and tracks your position, by GPS I presume. I’m starting a new job where they use it and have a few questions/concerns. Give me a shout if you use it please. Many thanks in...

EV Charging. Courses, amount of work et al.

Hello all. I’m a 55 year old, old git. Retired at 50 and did a few other things. Now, though various reasons, I find myself unemployed. I did my C and G 2330 levels 2 and 3 around 10 years ago. (17th) Not in NIC etc. Done copious amounts of house bashing with other people. I’m asking all...

    The Working Away question

Well done you. I’m a retired cub too. I see so many that work is a main priority, it’s a mere lubricant in the grindstone of life. If you’re spoiling for a row..... you’re too late, it’s past my bedtime. ?

So I can join these sites and talk to deliberately obtuse workaholics.

    The Working Away question

That’s what work is for, yes. If you think that work is a main priority in life, you’re probably not doing it right.

It’s only work my friend. Not the important stuff. Do what makes you happy.

    Emergency lighting

Certainly needs further investigation. To clarify. All communal lights go off with flicking of one breaker and with operation of key switch. Emergency’s come on. Unfortunately they don’t want maintained. Is the Electrician correct in failing this?

    Emergency lighting

Hello all. Many apologies if I’m not in the right place.... and for my terminology (or lack of it)but here goes. It’s been a while. I’ve been asked to sort an issue with emergency lighting. A block with five floors has ‘normal’ and el’s A breaker on the CU turns off all existing lighting...

    Oops. Drilled through a cable.

Sincere thanks to all who helped. Very much appreciated. Apologies for the late reply, I was away and tend not to sit on a computer while I’m out enjoying myself. To those petty little twerps that do. Have a little look at yourselves. Again, your great advice is much appreciated.

    Oops. Drilled through a cable.

Stupidly, I drilled through an FP cable, close to a Call Point. It’s plastered into the wall. Now, Can I chase and reveal the cable, crimp the conductors, use heatshrink and plaster back in? It would be a hell of a lot easier than any other method but I want to do it correctly. Cheers in...

Easiest way to be able to certify my own work.

Thank you all. In my experience you get a different answer from everyone you speak to. Strange to think it's so complicated. Why should it be. Looks as though I'll have to shell out a nice few quid to tick some boxes then. Or maybe get someone to cert my work after I've finished. I suppose...
