Cheers Lee,
Trying to make it work but stepping back, your comments have clarified my doubts that this wasn't suitable!
Their 'heating engineer' supplied the RF3 & will get it back!
Good to have a heating guru around!
Thanks,
Rob
Hi,
Since getting back into the trade a few years back have installed controllers for boilers with room stats etc & the odd new S plan system - infrequently & admit I am not well versed in heating controls though can follow a circuit diagram!
Customer has asked me to install a Drayton digistat...
Thanks guys for all your input - great resource here.
Big thanks to Marconi for his detailed explanation & solution - hager RCBO sorted it.
Very useful to know for the future.
Rob
Hi,
No update as Bosch have only just sent an engineer and have been recovering from a carpel tunnel op - apologies.
Bosch will only say a class A RCBO Might solve the problem - difficulty being there was only room for a 4-way board in the small meter cupboard & I can only find double pole...
Appreciate everyones input.
@Murdoch
Said socket tests satisfactory - renewed it anyway.
As well the normal tests plugged in a 2.5 KW heater which had no issues.
Basically when on a short radial circuit hood trips -whether on short leg of ring or ccu socket (cooker circuit approx same length).
@Richard
Yeah, pretty straightforward now at home - straight 2M run to board = trip, longer run = no trip.
Would open hood up but will leave it I think until Bosch have had a look.
These faults are sent to test us lol.
yeah, I know mate. So as above replaced short leg 2M with IR tests of > 900 Meg - no other circuits connected in board.
Duplicated fault on cooker ciruit with similar length.
So if the longer leg is absorbing 70mA it doesn't compare with other faults I have dealt with such as leakage on a long...
MFT calibrated - EL clamp meter six months old. RCBO's ramp tested (25mA -27mA) Even though RCBO's were new swapped for new ones.
Murdoch - I'm looking believe me but trying to understand the science behind it.
@Richard - was thinking along those lines though I'm not aware of the method to prove this theory - ring circuit tests were r1 0.63 rn 0.57 & r2 0.97 - average 2 bed bungalow so around 80 square meters.
Trouble is I know when the Bosch engy comes out he will say it works on one socket so must...
Clamped the fan CPC via a stripped extension lead & got same readings - fine when connected to a longer circuit but spikes when fan speed increased on short leg.
Hi,
Well disconnected all other circuits and was testing from a 2M run 2.5 T&E that is the first leg of the ring to the socket for the hood - even replaced this piece of twin (even though previous tested fine) & replaced single socket. Done the same again with the socket on the CCU with only...
Hi,
Been back in the trade a few years now & a regular lurker here (236 I & II & C, 2391, time served etc, 17th) - I have always managed to track down answers using the search however need some help on this one.
New kitchen install in a 2 bed bungalow involving a board swap to RCBO's as only...
Steve, in the same position as you and recently done the 3 day 17th course which did bring a lot back that the shorter course may have not! I did mine with PASS training Stockton which I can recommend.
I viewed the 17th course in two ways - a welcome refresher for those with previous training...
Yeah, was thinking self employed working domestic/light industrial - after sorting out somewhere to live I'll have enough from from pay off to absorb training/set up costs.
I have been keeping my hand in doing little jobs here and there for friends and family but would also look to work as a...
Hi guys, have searched through loads of threads but can't seem to find what I'm looking for hence the new thread!
I'm gonna be leaving the services soon and need some advice on updating my electrical skills/quals to survive in civvy street!
I completed an electrical apprenticeship in the...
