    New Trades Career

From your list below, is it just 2365 that you are doing? £7800 is a lot of money. Are you able to list all the courses that are included in that price?

    Help with light wiring.

None of the conductors connected to the switches are or should be neutral as indicated by the brown sleeving in the first photo.

So im all set up for my first install......

Agreed. It should be like the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) grants. Customer applies after installation complete and paid for and just needs to provide details of the installation certificate provided by the installer.

    RCD test button

All the IET need to do is issue a new mandatory label saying, 'Under No Circumstances Push This Button' . They'll be tested all the time then. ?

What RCBOs are compatible with these?

Looking to add an additional circuit to this board. What currently available brand of RCBO’s are going to available. I suspect with the Havells shown there are already two brands mixed in? What’s the other brand with the black oval and red triangle symbol?

How do I deal with overheated/burnt wiring?

I told you it was an irrational fear ?

How do I deal with overheated/burnt wiring?

Know what you're saying Lucien. In a confined space I'll sometime use long nose pliers to push the conductor in to the push fit. Need that satisfying feel of the conductor pushing in to the connector securely. Must admit that I sometimes have an irrational fear that when I close up a box with...

How do I deal with overheated/burnt wiring?

How about these? Smaller than the lever connectors, if you can't get enough slack on the existing good conductors.

    Ethics around EICR

Paid about £750 for a full survey on my current place. Produced a nice glossy brochure and was full a caveats and get out clauses. Stated the obvious with no real investigation. Missed the fact that two main roof ties were shot to bits with woodworm so ended up putting a new roof on. Went into...

    Eicr on Farm house

Building work on six rooms? Sounds like a great opportunity to sweet talk the owner into replacing existing set up with something more aesthetic. As above, probably easier than trying to do remedial work.

CJR Electrical - really poor workmanship video

CJR has done some quite good stuff recently in my novice opinion. He has done some cringe worthy stuff but so have a lot of the other vloggers even the likes of Artisan and Bundy et al. They all seem to be doing ok though, taking on extra staff and apprentices seems to be the trend at the moment.

    Ethics around EICR

Very true ?, but at the very least I'd expect some immediate feedback in respect of anything dangerous.

    Ethics around EICR

If I was selling a place and a potential buyer wanted an EICR done on their instruction and payment I would only consent on the condition that I had a copy of the report at the time it was done. I certainly expect anything that anything dangerous was reported to me ASAP in order to rectify and...

    TradesCollege.org electrical training

Definitely pays to shop around and research what's available. There's a wealth of info on this site. The guy that was calling you is probably from a 3rd party sales team with the sole objective of getting you so cough up the dosh or sign up to a credit agreement.

    TradesCollege.org electrical training

Basically these training providers are able to log you on to the genuine G&G exam portals. The exams you take are genuine. The issue I have is that I get the impression that City & Guilds do not appear to closely scrutinise training providers that offer courses for their exams. Certainly, with...
