    Quick quote.

Where in Surrey? I charge £30 / but I’m not what you’d class as an experienced spark so probably would charge more if I was quicker and more experienced. I have a time served mate down the road who was still charging £30 / hour though.

Best way of supplying underfloor heating

Presumably you know where the controllers are being positioned and where the feed and thermostat for each mat are going ? ??

Best way of supplying underfloor heating

If you’re not doing the matts you’ll need to tie in closely with whoever is to find out manufacturers requirements, loading and design circuits accordingly. I’ve run small matts off FCU’s from a RFC and also run separate dedicated radials.

Best way of supplying underfloor heating

You can fix UF heating mats into any area configuration you like, you just need to know the area and match with manufacturer sizes. What flooring are they having?

Best way of supplying underfloor heating

What flooring are they having? Tiles, wood, carpet? No point in bedrooms and I’d limit it to rooms with tiled floors ... but as above ...expensive heating option.

    Scrap copper cable strippers

I’d check the price out that the scrappy will give for the unstripped stuff. I’ve thought briefly about stripping the cable but have better things to do with my time.

    Is This Bad Parenting?

Yep. Back in the late 70s my dads aluminium greenhouse was destroyed during a storm. He was able to claim for a new one on insurance. His dad, my grandfather, had just retired and moved in to a place just up the road. He came and collected all the twisted bits of frame, straightened them out and...

The Pain of constant electrical work

Re the prostate. Get your PSA levels checked regularly. I was checked out last year for other issues and had a raised PSA level. Was referred quickly for an MRI which detected a suspicious area. Then had a biopsy (that’s another story ?) which found one sample core out of 15 was cancerous. Given...

    Is This Bad Parenting?

I have a brilliant dad, from a generation used to doing and fixing everything for themselves out of necessity. Helped me a lot with diy on my first house purchases and car maintenance. I remember having a manky old up and over garage door with a broken lock. When he saw it he said, I think I...

    Wooden cladding / multi tool

Wouldn’t be without a multi tool now. Just done a small job putting extra socket in living room for Fused spur and TV mount. Didn’t want to use disc cutting dust machine. Used a multi tool masonry attachment to get clean cut through plaster and was lucky that it was really soft block underneath...

    Wooden cladding / multi tool

I’d definitely go with a multi tool. With the right blade it would be pretty quick. If the cladding is directly on to plaster / brick, wouldn’t that cause a problem for a jigsaw?

Personal pensions - Do you pay into one?

Be very careful with any pension pots. There are a lot of scammers targeting people since the regulations were relaxed. They'll cash them in with the promise of higher returns when actually they just transfer it off shore, launder it a bit and the use it to invest in their own property, fast...
