Diagnosing tripping RCD from septic tank pump

Yes they were still connected at the CU if it was N/E fault I would have never been able to reset the RCD even with the MCB flipped? Anyway, I severed the cable just before it went underground and now the fault has gone so it must be the underground cable. I have purchased some wiska boxes, SWA...

Diagnosing tripping RCD from septic tank pump

Ah yes thats a much neater solution with the the SWA glands, thanks a lot for the info. Now to cut this wire see if it makes a difference other wise I guess I'm running a new wire from the consumer unit which would be quicker and easier than trying to diagnose the whole wire as it's quite a long...

Diagnosing tripping RCD from septic tank pump

It's definitely not the pump as you say, I have a put a plain old plug on the end of it and currently have it running off an extension reel just fine. I have traced the cable through the house and it looks fine, it's currently one long piece. My plan was to cut it just before it goes underground...

The gate is attached as a spur off the garage sockets. No matter where I put the RCD in the garage it doesn't set, i think...

UK Adding RCD spur doesn't set but consumer RCD is fine

I thought I read somewhere it was best practice for cables that went external, also I was planning to maybe add an exterior socket also which again I thought was best practice. Still it makes me think there is something wrong with the main rcd. I didn't mention this is from the garage where the...

UK Adding RCD spur doesn't set but consumer RCD is fine

Hi all, I have ran added a fused RCD spur off a socket to feed some electric gates. I figured as it was going outside I would put an RCD on the spur on it as I had one kicking around I believe it's probably unnecessary but when I connect it to the supply it will never set and constantly trips...
