Customer rang to say his washing machine trips the circuit in the middle of the cycle. He said, it ran for a while and stopped. Enquired on the phone and it looked like it only tripped the MCB and the RCD stayed on.
It's on a radial circuit with 16A MCB. Could someone shed some light on this...
Thank you all for the feedbacks. I am trying to persuade them to have their CU upgraded once the main earth is sorted out by the DNO (hopefully). With 0.26 Ze the meter says the earth is OK but visually I am bit concerned. There is dampness around the socket in the bedroom that powers the...
Visited a property today and found these:
Dodgy main earth (couple of strands of bare 1.5mm stuck to the cut-out and taped to hold it)
One of the tails bodged up with insulation tape.
Electric Meter too close to the gas meter (this is common in most of the houses)
There...
I do not see any problem in doing what telectrix says... fix the problems and issue an EIC, take the money and run.
The arguement is you did the first fix, finally rectified the problems and you know it's safe, then why not do a EIC?
I build websites and I have done mine (A2Z Electrics.com - Electrical, Plumbing & IT System Installers.). It's proving quite useful for the clients to learn about your services before calling you. I have advertised on Gumtree (for free) and I had a few calls.
If anyone here needs some help...
Thank you for a great advice. I am nervous, because the way she was urging me and in some cases when we do the PIR and point out things that need doing, she may not be happy and restrain herself from paying me altogether for whatever the job I have done.
Again, she sounded a bit honest; I...
I had a call from a lady today who said, “can you do a PIR for me, it’s very urgent, can you come now?”. When I asked, what it was all about; she said that her builder had done some additional circuits and he could not be contacted anymore for an electrical certificate. She now needs a PIR done...
That cooker is probably more than 10 years old and I have the remote chance to get hold of the instructions. Turning one by one to see if the RCD trips was an easier option for me and it worked. Thanks for the input, anyway!
As telectrix pointed out, I think it is a case of the elements breaking down. I checked all circuits and asked them to try. They turned on a bigger element with a pan on and a smaller element without anything on. It tripped after five minutes. I asked them to turn off the smaller one and it...
