    Bathroom lights stopped working

I came across a similar situation recently and the stick indicated power on the circuit but the lights didn't work. Realised there was no return path, replaced the transformer and the circuit came to life. Give it a go, replace the transformer. Best of luck!

    Using a 8.5KW shower on a 6mm circuit.

Thanks, folks for all your inputs on this. I simply asked for opinion from other "SPARKIES" and there was quite a mix of suggestions. I see no point arguing with grumpy ones; utter waste of time. Thanks again!

All these circuits with spot lights & transformers!

Hi, While doing an IR testing on the lighting circuits, these spot lights & transformers are a pain in the back side. The transformers are usually in the most inaccessible places and if you test them with 500v they get blown up or give undesirable results. Is testing IR only between earth and...

Hi, This is the scenario; The kitchen is now converted into a bedroom and there is a bathroom adjacent to that bedroom. The client asked me to re-route the 6mm cable and install a electric shower in the bathroom. This is what I proposed to do: 8.5KW shower (8500/230=37 amps) 6mm T&E...

    RFC - no CPC continuity!

Hi, I have just tested a RFC and the CPC was broken (no continuity). Tested all the socket on that circuits and R1+R2 was OK but I could't open a socket to check, as it was hidden (burried) behind a door frame and it must be a double socket with only one of its switches staring at me. To reach...

    Is this not legal?

Hi malcolmsanford, I didn't mean to sound naughty. When I hit the line, "So, just because an electrician is registered doesn’t make them qualified." I thought even if you are registered with a body, you are not qualified to do PIR. Sorry, I didn't grasp the point with its full...

    Is this not legal?

If someone registered with NICEIC as a Domestic Installer but not registered under “Electrical Condition Inspection Report (ECIR)” scheme, in theory he should not be doing a PIR. Is this right or wrong? But the reg. stipulated that PIR should be done by a competent person. I have seen survey...

What the heck is going on here?

Hi, Visited a property today and this is what I found. Don’t know what the hell was going on with the chap who did this. Garage has a re-wirable fuse-board fed by 1.5 mm SWA from a non-rcd DB in the house and the armour not earthed. Removed the earth leads from the stud on the cut out and...
