NICEIC Certification Scheme niceic approved contractor

My niceic inspection is due very shortly & I'm trying to decide whether to step up to an approved contractor as 70% of our work is commercial & industrial. Most of our work is word of mouth, so our advertising costs are very low. Do you get much more work being an approved contractor?

    mould in bathroom

The extraction rate is 110m3/hr, as I am aware the bathrooms have been well cleaned with bleach and the doors are left open after showering. The main problem is two teenage daughters! Will a more powerful extractor do any good? How about a 4in dia vent in the door?

Sorry no outside wall. Possible plans for a sun-light tube, don't think this will help.

    mould in bathroom

Hi guys, I have a mould problem in two houses belonging to a landlord. Both have had a referb of sorts and both have installed a manrose 25w in-line centrifugal fan which I think may not be powerful enough. The rooms are approximately 2.5m lxdxh and have no windows or natural ventilation. One of...

Regs on UG cable depth and marking

The installation should be designed and installed as to ensure it is protected both mechanically and electrically.Ideally 1.3 mtrs in a argicultual site, ( deep plough in excess of 600m & it hits a 11kv cable, what a mess), 600-700mm underground unless other precautions are in place. Above...

I look after 2 properties 20 miles apart, both are terrace farm houses & both are fed overhead to the first building which is then "looped in-looped out" of the remaining 2 properties. DNO inform me that PME is not available because of the risk of a broken neutral which could affect the other...

There are also issues where overheads are supplied to multiple properties "loop in-loop out" where potential earthing problems arise if a broken neutral occurs. This can also cause nuisance RCD tripping on neighbouring properties.

Had a similar problem, checked with DNO if PME was available and was told it wasn't, left as TT. Returned 6 months later for another problem & found PME on site. Re-checked with DNO, PME still not available. A new comsumer had been installed by a "bathroom company" and had been converted to PME...

    voltage/ power logger

Has anyone got any views on power loggers? A few jobs have come up where the ability to compare the long term current demand and voltage levels would be an advantage. I have been looking at the Electrocorder EC6-VA, three phase voltage and current logger. Does anyone use one of these or know...

500kva supply and distribution ct extension

I think i'm there now. Ryefield will supply a ct chamber with an 800a MEM cb 50 kA, bolted to an 800a busbar. 300mm tails to one 400a mccb on a 12 way distribution board. A second 12 way 400a board can be fitted in a few years. Again, thanks for all your help.

500kva supply and distribution ct extension

Thanks for your help. This is the first board, a second will be installed at a later date 2 - 3 years away, the same spec as the first. This does bring up another question: If the main fusing is at the sub station, i will need to isolate the buzbar to install the second board. Can this supply...

TT and TNCS (PME) at same address!

I work on a large house which had tns, tncs and tt all going in a different places. We moved the incoming supply with the local electricty board to incorporate a back up generator and it was then set as a tncs system. As I see it, it depends on how old the cable is and what work is involved. 3...
