    They're moving to fibre optic. The copper that's been in the ground, some of it for at least 80 years is getting very brittle and starting to fail. Every exchange has decommissioned frames that have several thousand pairs of cables just sat there gathering dust, probably not financially viable...

    Can anyone tell me what these symbols are?

    Looking at my old 2396 legend. 1. TP-N switched fused unit 2. Fused connection unit (no neon) or an enclosed luminaire possibly with a switch. You need to ask you tutor for confirmation. Can you post a picture showing a slightly larger area of the plan which might give some more context?

    At the time the role attracted £40k, that's as QS and managing 15 sparks, customer quotes, daily admin, overtime etc. I would have took less but they tried to take the p!$$.

    As the DBs aren't a fixed load you cannot guarantee the CCC of the cables will not be exceeded in the future if any additions are made, C2 for me. TBH I would either look at replacing the tails or fitting a switch fuse.

    Induced voltage from other circuits, common problem with older LED lamps, most modern LED lamps have snubbers fitted to avoid this.
