    Anyone recognise this name?

Looks similar to Eurolite, except your photo looks brushed steel, and the Eurolite part is described as polished steel? https://www.cef.co.uk/catalogue/products/352665-tp-fan-isolator-switch-polished-stainless-steel-with-white-insert

Brick wall lights - SWA cable connections

Chase out a hole in the pillar behind the light fitting, deep enough for a Wiska box plus SWA glands?

    What's the Banjo doing?

The banjo won't fit inside the Wiska, the inside wall is not flat. Normally I'd fit an earth bar inside that has a profile machined to fit. See post #5. There are different earth bars available to suit different Wiska sizes, the '308 is the most common size.

    Possible electric fault following rewire

The photos of a Danson consumer unit with surge protection all show the SPD to the right of the main switch, which is what I'd expect. So with the SPD fitted to the left of the main switch, I'm wondering how the busbar connection is made from the main switch to the MCBs. Unless the SPD is some...

    EICR Unsatisfactory - New Property

The EICR you posted shows a set of test results, which implies the relevant circuits have already been tested. However there are some discrepancies in the test sheets compared to what is actually installed, so I would be reluctant to believe the previous results. It is not unknown for them to be...

    Led strip install cost

Hard to say if expensive or cheap, cost would depend on things like exactly what LED stirps were installed, how easy/difficult the job was, where you are located, etc. Actually 10 person hours is likely going to eat up most of the £567, or do you think it should have been done in far less time...

    EICR Unsatisfactory - New Property

I'm a bit curious about circuit #4, Smoke Alarms, which seems to be showing a 30mA RCD on the test sheet that doesn't exist, and the test results suggest it is a ring final circuit (for sockets)? Copy & paste errors? Also, is this property really only 12 years old, as I'd not have expected that...

Circuits earthed on metal box/conduit: Does it need a rewire?

If the wiring is in metal conduit, then that would (or should) be the earth! Perhaps your "electrican" has not met this type of wiring before, in which case he shouldn't be doing the work! NB: I once saw a flat needlessly rewired with twin & earth pulled into every metal conduit that was...

Can't find dotless LED lights to fit 18mm x 5mm 5m Skirting groove - HELP!

You can get 10mm wide LED tape, which would fit in this skirting groove. However, and especially given the location, I'd prefer to protect such a tape e.g. in an aluminium profile, and the profile will then be too big for the existing groove - a typical size to hold 10mm tape is 18mm. You might...

Sanity check on plan for CU replacement (MCB to RCBO AFDD)

Re the enclosure, Hager units typically come with the option of round or rectangular knockouts top & bottom, check which would be more convenient, the part numbers are slightly different (e.g. K vs RK) to select which option. Typically you'd buy the enclosure with the SPD already fitted, which...

EICR - Shallow Back Box Depth a Fault?

    Reinstall sauna light fitting

The clips stickng out look normal. But is this light fitting rated for use in a sauna, with all that hot steam? I'd have expect it to maybe have a glass cover.

    Does SPD MCB size matter?

A couple of days ago, I retrofitted a Contactum SPD kit (into a consumer unit I'd installed a few years previously) - the MCB supplied in the kit was a 63A C-type. I suspect a low value MCB might trip when instead the energy should be going into the SPD.

Lighting Junction box in loft with 9 cables in??

How about these, in the lofts of a row of local bungalows, from the 1960's. Connections for each light and each switch drop, plus feed from CU. Generally all in perfect condition, and good for continued service.

    Access control and power failures

UK RCD trip without appliance powering on

Cumulative leakage from several faulty appliances, which on their own don't trip the RCD, but added together might? You would be better off having individual RCD protection for each circuit, i.e. a new all-RCBO consumer unit, rather than trying to add a second RCD. So don't have anyone suggest...

    Identify this manufacturer?

I've had to replace an obsolte module with a 2-zone expansion module in the past, it was quite straightforward, just connect the wiring per the diagram. You are right, the GJD stuff is not cheap, but if you are charging for your time, it probably is more cost effective to just pay for a new unit.
