    Very strange Zone valve problem

I cant see it being the probe as if this was at fault it wouldn't cause the valve to 'half open'. it would just get the water temp wrong or not heat at all. the only thing I considered was that the boiler was changed a while ago by a third party and although I've checked the wiring, which is...

    Very strange Zone valve problem

Yep. the boiler heats water in a heat exchanger and the pool water runs around this water. there is a probe in the heat exchanger.

    Very strange Zone valve problem

Thanks for the replies. The stat was changed so its not the stat. The whole valve was changed so as to eliminate the corrosion possibility and they have done the whole thing.

    Very strange Zone valve problem

Hi guys, I have a really odd one for you all. About four years ago we installed a heating systems for a swimming pool using various items but the main part of the heating was a Honeywell zone valve controlling the boiler. The valve was controlled in the usual way via a programmer and stat...

Westward, thank you so much for your replies. I must admit I hadn't known about using the armour as a bonding conductor.

    Swimming Pool Earthing

So the rebar should be bonded but only if a TNCS? Ive not heard of running bonding via the SWA sheath before. In this building there is water gas, RSJ's and now rebar. So can he take them all back to the dis board in the new building and then from there use the Sheath as the bonds? if so how...

    Swimming Pool Earthing

    1. Which grid? if you mean the rebar, why? its not accessible. and presumably only if the system is TN-C-S? 2. sorry I think you misunderstand. if the system is TN-C-S or TN-S the sparks will have to run new cables up to the MET for the bonding. not use the SWA! or are you thinking of the...

    Swimming Pool Earthing

So I'm correct that anything other than TT and the bonding needs to go to the MET back at the meter?

    Safe Zones, 230yr Old Cottage

My brother lives in a tudor house in kent and although there are very small voids under some of the floor boards they are not continuous and cannot be relied upon for cable routes. as for coming down walls, none of the cables are concealed but run next to the beams and then painted the same...

    Swimming Pool Earthing

Happy New Year guys! I have a situation at a pool installation. A pool is being built in a separate building from a house. It has (I have been told but not checked) a new three phase supply from the street going down the garden to the new pool building. The electrician has terminated...

    Weird RCD tripping

Re: Wierd RCD tripping you are correct but it was the easiest way and I was in my own so no danger of anyone else in the area. so even though the fault is on another circuit, some of the current flow from the pump neutral would go back down the earth fault as the neutrals are all connected at...

    Weird RCD tripping

Re: Wierd RCD tripping Yep. this was the strangest thing. I tried it about five times and every time the pump was running the lighting earth could be reconnected. but if I turned the pump off and then back on, it would trip again.

    Weird RCD tripping

Re: Wierd RCD tripping just disconnected the lighting earth to find the fault. funny thing is that I could connect the earth for the lighting back once the pump was running! if I left the lighting earth connected and then started the pump it would trip every time. lighting circuit is totally...

    Weird RCD tripping

Re: Wierd RCD tripping it is a neutral-earth fault but why would the pump trip the RCD when its not the pump at fault?

    motor call

the rating plate has P1 as 1.1kw. there is no power factor and no efficiency rating listed. this is why I'm having problems. I've come across this before with the same pumps (Starite). in the end I had to get the pump supplier to find out for me. seems daft that I can't work it out on site.

    Weird RCD tripping

Hi guys, I've installed a new c/u for a swimming pool plant room (very small) consisting of circuits for a pump, electrics heater, pool and garden lighting and timer control for the heating/ filtration. it has an RCD main switch. when commissioning everything worked fine although the pump had...
