    New Garage Consumer Unit

Move the lighting circuit which the main bathroom is on to the RCD side of the board and then you have a spare way on the non RCD side

    Indemnity insurance?

Never seen it separate, but never been looking for it separate either, I've always had both together. Have you asked your existing PL insurance provider if it can be added to your existing policy?

VERY quiet ceiling mounted (min IP X4) bathroom fan recommendations?

They have some interesting colours in those fans...did you go for the red one?

Should Scottish Government delay new smoke detector law

Handyman local to me has been going round doing smoke alarms - he can't seem to manage changing just the slide on Aico head or the plug in Kidde head, so he removes them and fits none interlinked standalone battery alarms.

VERY quiet ceiling mounted (min IP X4) bathroom fan recommendations?

Not the S100T (link), it's just a standard timer over run fan. The Manrose one (sorry no part number) doesn't have great extraction rates but got to bear in mind it also runs 24/7. I've not fitted an Envirovent continuous running one, only Manrose, Vent Axia (and pulled a good few of them out...

Smoke detector with separate backup batteries?

I don't know when they changed to them but the Aico bases have been the same for many years now, I've replaced a lot of expired detectors and reused the same base. Flip side will be if it's had a bit of bad paintwork, smokers or anything it'll be hard to justify leaving a not pleasant looking...

VERY quiet ceiling mounted (min IP X4) bathroom fan recommendations?

Envirovent Silent S100T is the quietest I've used lately, but nearly sure the Manrose continuous running fan is quieter - even in boost mode. But it's been a while since I installed one so can't quite remember what it was like in boost noise wise.

    Searching for electric radiators

As per @Avo Mk8 you won't get an old fashioned heater due to LOT 20. They will all have the inbuilt controls now. I don't do much with regards to electric heating, but my office has a 2kW Stiebel Eltron panel which is controlled solely by a Hive stat - it doesn't require a contactor as only...

Who supplies rubber gaskets for 2 gang sockets?

Is there likely to be much water splashes etc near these sockets?

Smoke detector with separate backup batteries?

All domestic smoke alarms have a lifespan of 10 years. Probably best to stick an Aico in that has the integrated battery so no one needs to go near it for the next 10 years or so.

    Rf thermostat recommendations

EPH Combi Pack 4 (CP4). Fitted loads for the 2 gas installers I work for, very few problems and straight forward to operate especially in comparison to what some of them are like, and has a Boost function which most don't have.

    4 bed new build price

@ashbarker96 are you VAT registered? Those 4 houses would probably push you close to the VAT threshold, and newbuilds are 0% VAT rated, so would probably need to be VAT registered to have a chance of getting them.

    Double socket problems!!

Why limit that to the 60's? Could easily apply to late 80's and early 90's and well beyond. With modern builds it seems spec is low to hit for extra's left right and centre. Was on one today, 4 bed done around 2012, master bedroom and the big bedrooms 2 double sockets per room, small bedroom...

    Blocking diode for radiator pump?

I'm struggling to follow this one...is there a pump for the HW as well? Or is the pump solely for CH and HW is on gravity? A diode won't work as it's an AC supply. A relay might but changing what sounds like a pumped system to a gravity one sounds like trouble

    Impact Driver Vs MCB

I know I'm in the minority here, clearly, given the other responses from the others from Northern Ireland...But I prefer posidrive to scrulox. If using hand drivers scrulox is far superior, there is no comparison between the two. But I use an impact driver pretty much always for screws (bar...

    SWA outer sheath damage

I'd worry about what state the rest of it is in if this is what it's like on the bit you can see - if able to repair that part with a proper joint I'd be noted on cert that rest of the cable is nothing to do with me.

What do you say when you've quoted and the customer says; "that sounds like a lot?"

Never ever ever lower the quote for the job unless the works are reduced. And don't do it for less for "cash", or if customer suggests them supplying materials or doing the less skilled parts like chasing walls - it's not going to end well.
