It sounds like you are paying yourself regular dividends as a company director not as a subby, don't see why some are saying that your accountant is wrong, as long as you are making a profit you can pay yourself dividends, you will just end up having income tax liability (minus allowances) on...
Oh man, I dream of some down time! Okay a year or two ago I was in your position but now I am batting people off people left right and centre and to be honest cannot keep up with demand, I am now trying to slow down. My advice would be find out what local newspapers of magazines there are and...
Approved Contractor? For the same money as their Part P scheme, Stroma will cover you for commercial, Third Party Certification, EICR's and PAT testing! Cannot really see anything that NICEIC offer which Stroma don't, in fact NICEIC don't offer third party certification, bit of a no brainer...
Have never been asked who I am with and to be honest none of my domestic or commercial customers know what a scheme is or to be honest care. Stroma is cheaper and in my opinion has significantly more robust entry requirements and assessment than other schemes hence I will always recommend them...
My advice is don't get involved, I appreciate your sentiments but just do your job, advise the client that they have been ripped off and give them a quote to sort it out. It is a civil dispute between the landlord and the company involved. If you feel that incensed report the occurrence and...
Conrad why Napit or NICEIC, I am with Stroma and cannot understand why you would go with a more expensive scheme, I have never had anyone domestic or commercial ask me what scheme I am with, as long as they get a certificate they do not seem to worry. I use electraform which costs £1 a...
Credit where credit is due, I have used the forum sponsors electrical2go a couple of times now and their prices as well as service are very good, if you haven't done so, consider giving them a try!
Phoned them today to see an order was on its way and the service from Elliot (by his own...
Replace them with an enlite E5 or Luceco F type fitting, converting them may be cheap but the all in one LED units are in my view a better solution. The Luceco are very easy to wire up but the E5's from forum sponsor electrical2go are hard to beat value wise!
On paper C&G and EAL are equal, on paper they may be, there are however still many people out there who will view EAL as the inferior qualification, for this reason I would always go C&G.
I would also recommend Stroma, as a new start up you will also get a good Pli and Public Indemnity through their partner insurers Arthur J Gallagher which will be far cheaper than you can get elsewhere. For tuppenth worth, being self employed is bloody hard work, get a decent accounting package...
Last time I bought an enlite strip strip it had a gel on the front (ip65) had to scrape that off to get the connector on (was very hit and miss) and then couldn't get the connector into the aluminium profile. Would now buy non waterproof so suppose I could just invest in a dremel to adapt the...
Long story, a job I picked up, had to dig them out of an oak staircase to identify them, I get the feeling that the previous sparks had connected them and they didn't work. Dug the cables out of the plaster and clearly wired in parallel so yes worth a punt but I don't hold out much hope!
