UK Solar SWA cable run 10mm or 16mm

Best thing would be to ascertain max VD on existing circuits and go from there. It could be the case that 6mm would be adequate.

UK Solar SWA cable run 10mm or 16mm

At full whack you will have circa 1.4% for 10mm and 0.9% for 16mm VD, that will be at nominal voltage, inverter will supply slightly higher voltage. You should just be OK with 10mm unless there are extremely long and power hungry lighting circuits

Solar Panels Installer mishap or dno mistake?

There are different routes that depends on what setup you have got. There is G99 which is apply and connect, in which case installer should receive permission before install and that can takes few months. Then there is G98, which is connect and notify, in which case installer will notify DNO...

g98 or g99?, larger than 3.6kw but with export limitation

If you decide to use inverter with max output of 32A (~7,3kW) and it has internal settings to set limitation to 16A, then you can use g99 sg1 procedure which is basically same as g98 - install and notify

Home security systems recommendations with full rewire

+1 for texecom, very good system from small domestics to huge commercial installation. You can go wireless with their mesh technology or wired. On the top of that they got smartcom 4g module last year for phone monitoring etc so even if power is lost you will still get notifications and be able...

A headache getting clarification re Solis inverter

You can install either CT clamp on its own or meter with CT clamp and choose appropriate setting in the menu, however if you want to control export the clamp need to be installed just before cut out. You can either extend the cable (60m is not a problem but you might need to calibrate at the...

    Surge protection for Solar panels...

712.443.101 If Spd is required under section 443, same shall be applied to DC side. However type of the spd and location is determined be several factors, such as: presence of lightning protection system, location of inverter and pv array, main supply system etc

Solar Solar system - Hybrid inverter in a shared RCD

There are few problems with your setup. As SJD mention already various brands mcb should not be mixed. No labels on new consumer unit and pv isolators and inverter. Your installer used shared rcd to feed inverter which he should not. Also your rcd is type AC and should be type A or B. Did you...

    BS No. for this intake?

Can't really guess what's inside. If DNO in your area does not allow pulling the fuse then just put N/V in the cert

"Pretty" or "Smart" consumer unit options.

It can but if I have a choice between me going around the house switching things off before I go to work or sleep or setup a device that will do all that for me, i choose the latter Yep, that would be another way of automation We will have to wait and see if they actually invent such device

"Pretty" or "Smart" consumer unit options.

You could set up some automation to have some circuits disconnected during night, when at work or away, that could potentially save you hundreds of pounds a year by not wasting your energy to keep unnecessary stuff on standby.

Another option would be Hager Design 50. It's great looking one. Can't see a problem installing it sideways as long as manual does not prohibit it. Just need labelling correctly especially main switch. https://hager.com/uk/products/h/vsr112spd-12-way-100a-switch-spd-flush
