Yeah thats an old pyro, very common around my way, big old victorian houses that the downstairs and upstairs have been turned into separate properties after the war. They unfortunately in my experience won't do anything for free as its not their property, interesting way of picking the earth up too.
Yup was a old wire rewireable fusebox.
Garage flat roof leaked into light and blew the fuse, man came out to fix the flat roof and said e could upgrade the board aswell and as you can see.......
Not sure about diesel but did a similar job for jet fuel storage all the SWA glands had to be special and the light fittings had to be ExE rated too, they were about £750 each
Was old probably about 20 years ago!
House was fully rewired in 1970s but has no earth on the lighting, its just twin 1mm copper, its odd as I thought anything 1960s onwards had earth in the lighting
I've seen loads of stranded cable with no earth but not 1mm solid copper
