Agree with above should be code 3 for no rcd in a flat except possibly the bathroom light which may need an rcbo fitting .looks like you need a couple of down lights and a new switch for the water heater. It's a good chance that you dont require the bonding under the kitchen sink. From the...
Yes correct the only way to test them at the board is to connect a short piece of cable to them . So general easy to test them at a socket on the circuit .
Nice job . Regards the rcd test . Did you check if there was any load on the circuit because if there was it can give you false results. Fridges still plugged into circuits are always favourite for giving high rcd reading. I always try and test rcds before connecting the outgoing circuits .
Not sure you could give it code 1 . As a code 1 constitutes an immediate danger, there will only be a dangerous situation if the building catches of fire and the smoke alarm does not inform the occupier. So that would be a potential danger. You do have a good point about reg 560.10. Though
I have mention on EICRs if a mains powered smoke detector is damaged or missing and wrote it down as info on the report. I would only code it if it was electrical unsafe ( if there was exposed live parts for example) as others have said there is no requirement in an EICR to confirm the fire...
I have never used a tool bend cables, using pliers can damage the insulation, as others have said dress in tha cables neatly with your hands and you should not have a problem.
Best ask the question before you go to any interview. It may be that the company van insurance will cost a lot more so they may not want to employ you on that basis. On the other hand they will appreciate honesty and may not be an issue. We had a guy come for a job. . Managed to blag his way...
I think the confusion comes from the fact to rectify a brocken ring requires investigation and further testing. But this is an EICR and you are reporting on the condition of the installation. So in this case a brocken ring has been identified. Which will become dangerous if the circuit is...
You raise an interesting point. Sounds like a get around. The problem. Is there would be no paper trail . You would have a unsatisfactory and a satisfactory report for the same property just a couple of weeks apart with no reference to any remedial work All ok until something goes wrong and...
As others have said all depends. general i would pull the cable from the end with the least bends and or holes . If you puting a cable over 20 floors you would drop down the riser not try and pull it up .
We had a situation last year with a Take away with very unsafe electrics, code 1s every where, after getting advice all we could do was hand deliver a danger notice recommending them to turn the power off until it was made safe that they signed for .We could not lock off the power, the best we...
