Hi all...
I have heard that mandatory EICRs in England (and Wales (?)) may be coming into force this summer.
A letting agent I do a fair bit of work for posed a question just now that I didn't know the answer for.. They asked if a satisfactory EIC has been issued (say for a board change), then...
Dave: same here I have fitted a lot of the same. They disappeared for a little bit around a year or so ago but resurfaced. The first thing I noticed was how the internals all looked cheaper and nastier. I have gone back to fittings with replaceable lamps where possible now. Only exception is...
I have always regarded them as a decent brand..no particular reason as to why though, I just have.. but had a few issues with their LED Syl-circle lights failing after around 10% usage of what they proclaimed to last.
And just the other day I noticed that two LED GU10s at my place that are...
If you swapped out the main switch and and PD's inc busbar then surely the enclosure becomes a humble enclosure... Something goes wrong then manufacturers may grumble the neutral and CPC bars were wrong..type testing... Bah!! It's all money these days... Don't get me wrong the busbars should...
Thanks Lee.
I sussed it in the end. Although had to ring tech to get me out of the anti-code reset as couldn't access eng settings at all. He thought it was due to me changing the engineer code to six digits (grade 3) and it got back in when I just put in the first four digits of the code...
A normally-open push to make cabinet light switch recessed into the surface possibly....

Hi folks and wishing you all a lovely festive break..
Fitted a premier elite 24 panel recently. Few teething issues. The user manuals are atrocious and I have found other answers from YouTube and forums - namely LeeSparklyKent for saying to input the eng code twice in a row to access the...

I feel that given the longer length of the earth pin it will actually stress the plug and the socket. British plugs can be a bugger to pull at times, but I don't think this is the answer..
For plastic I use Hager and carry some square edged BG when occasionally required. Like click too.
Lap get a lot of bad reviews if you look closer - quite a few say the switches stop moving after a few months. I would avoid. For metal my favourite is Schneider flat plate. BG Nexus aren't a bad...
They are changing to a local company as soon as they can. They got charged over £1000 for a very simple job through ADT that required two visits each less than an hour. She queried the bill but they would not budge and she ended up paying it. She really dislikes them passionately now (to put it...
All sorted, a spacer has been put in behind it. It was a big old magnet in there though - must have been a good 16mm thick. The plastic casing on it is also really oversized compared to 'standard' door contacts, which is what made me wonder if there was something else within it.
Thanks for...
Thanks.. I knew it was really!! Just had this vision of ADT using some secondary wireless tamper in their kit just to be bar stewards!! Didn't want to unscrew the cover and have them charging the customer silly money...
Also the mere seven millimetre gap is a bit on the harsh side..I thought...
Hi All, been a while since been on. Life very hectic.. Hope all are well.. Anyway..
Very regular customer tied into an exorbitant ADT contract. Last time she called them out was to A) remove magnetic door contact from door and B) return and refit contact on new door.. Cost +£1000.00 yes over a...
I agree, partly mark-up but also definitely quality. I won't use BG anymore as I have had so many issues with their RCDs not meeting the x1 and x5. If you pay peanuts springs to mind. I lean towards Hager at £24 a pop, expensive but the trip times are often scarily consistent -...
Agree, websites are easily self designed with a little patience, and are cheap as chips. I got myself top on the first page of local sparks on Google using various easy-ish methods and for no cost. Keywords, reviews and links to other known websites helps in keeping the Google algorithms happy...
RCBOs it will be Tel, thanks. Don't know why that didn't enter my head! Guess I was too busy thinking about moving the main switch and the busbar configuration...
Yeah thought it had been altered Westy. And thanks for the vid Buzz, not checked it thoroughly yet though as filling in three eics tonight...:(
I am thinking the 100mA might be able to be moved to the left and act as main switch. Then have a new 30mA rccb next to it, whilst keeping the existing...
