    Rcbo failure

Excuse my ignorance SC.. I am drunk as officially from today I am divorced! Amicably though which is good..! But half is surely half i.e. 15mA is the test current if the test equipment is doing its thang correctly ...and it should not be tripping whether it be a B6 or a B40... Basically they...

    What is this...

The piccy has probably lost some resolution along the way...the red arrows sticker says skirting sockets rather than existing Snow..simarly the lower sticker says skirting sockets and after looking at it closer again just now the right hand side of that sticker seems to say lounge, dining and...

    What is this...

I love it when customers send things like this but fail to get a clear picture showing all the writing!! I can make out the top writing but the bottom central sticker is a mystery... 1580764351 Elucidate please The Tel...you must have seen something akin to this with the years you have under...

    What is this...

Hi Folks. Got sent the piccy below this afternoon. Never seen such a beauty before! I assumed it was some kind of NSH time switch, but it likely pre-dates economy 7 type tariffs... Answers on a postcode welcome! Thank you.. answers are also welcomed on a postcard...!

Best Rcbo board at reasonable price

Thanking you sir! Good to hear feedback. I like that you say they have consistent RCBO results; it kinda points to good manufacturing in my book - albeit my knowledge of such is very limited! I will check if my yesss has them too as per Richy and Andy..

Best Rcbo board at reasonable price

Hi SJD, nice neat boards.. Just wondering what they are like in terms of quality.. Decent cage clamps, x1 and x5 all good results, well placed knockouts (that actually knock out without bending the casing), etc etc.. Your knowledge, or others, on these boards would be appreciated... Ta..

    Why, just why !!

The board in the piccy above is semi combustible I guess !! Never seen a mishmash of sh1te gathered together like that though.. Insulated enclosures are very rarely a C2 in my book.

    Or why Buzz !

    Why, just why !!

Metal enclosure, plastic front cover, mismatched RCDs that push them out of line.. could get a new board for £70 ish, but no, got this load of carp instead!!

    WIHA Pro club for electricians

Yeah, you are probably right there Andy. I have just grown to dislike Wiha now after the awful service I got from them. I still think their slimfix drivers are superb though.. If they do bring out a mkII then I hope it has just a bit more power and torque..not a huge amount more and I guess...

    WIHA Pro club for electricians

I have a speed E too. Use it a fair bit for second fixing. Guess it saves a bit of time.. over-priced though.. I'm thinking that they probably have a glut of the drivers they can't sell at the ridiculous price they retail at, so instead have come up with this scheme as a way to get some money...

    IR value on ring

Neons often give a value around 0.02.. No USB sockets?

    A close shave!

I have had similar. Was running in new sockets in an office and was second fixing the faceplates when suddenly it went pitch black. I stupidly assumed (as slightly panicky at the time) I tripped something despite the new circuit cable not being connected to the board yet! With the alarm blasting...

Just back from a callout.. The joys..

Just realised you needed to look at the second photo to see what was wrong with the first one! The lives were back to front. Live feed was in the out and vice versa... The 1mm was on the outgoing side of the FCU...no fuse present when I got there but am presuming 13A. The 1mm cable run is...

Just back from a callout.. The joys..

Microwave, extractor fan and man cave all going through a 13A FCU... Man cave has 5kW of heating in it, a beer fridge, TV, etc etc...oh and it's fed via a 1mm cable! The FCU was replaced three weeks ago by a college lecturer (teaches electrics).. The neutral feed I suspect was not tightened up...

    UK English rental EICRs query...

Indeed. The letting agent I do stuff for are very keen on making sure the various properties are half decent. Despite not being a legal requirement up to now I have been carrying out EICRs for a good five years at their request. 1579046461 The legislation may quote the regs "safe for continued...

    UK English rental EICRs query...

I hear what you are saying but a board change would have all the relevant test information. It may not have the same level/depth of inspection as an EICR granted. In the case of a full rewire I would hope an EIC supercedes the need for a EICR though..guess it's a case of watch this space...

Ring final no continuity on live ends r1

True! But kitchen fitters should get plenty of blame!! P.S. I fit kitchens too!!
