I agree, no mention of the JIB or others like SparkSafe Ltp in the conference.
My issue find with Engineering Councils application is that you need to have another member to let you into the club.. seems a bit masonic to me.. Who you know, rather then what you know.
I do agree that the...
Not sure if anyone caught the first part of the IET National Conference last week. Dame Judith Hackit appeared as a guest and spoke about her "Grenville report" along with others including the chairman of the Engineering Council.
There was a strong theme based specifically about proving...
I'm really late to the thread here, sorry to bump this again..
On TT systems if is required that a Type 1 or 1/2 combined SPD is needed then these are generally connected in parallel to the consumer unit, usually in a separate enclosure using the same size tails that you supply the CU with...
I was looking at the Metrel 1352 it has good reviews and seems to do everything, I tempted to buy it but was hesitant like you as it kinda did too much.
I was in the middle of a EICR one day and my Dilog just failed on me. CEF had one of the Meggers on on the shelf with the EV adapter (when...
Not sure it's worth the extra. Depends on circuit. Here's a couple of pictures of me testing on my Cooker circuit ones "Hi 2wire "the others "Lo 3 wirewith confidence meter" ;)
Bit late to respond but I've installed a Project EV charger with the mft1741+ and Meggers own EV adapter.
Worked fine and the dial changed the state of the charger..
I think I did have a bit of trouble carrying out a Zs though the EV adapter.. It kept tripping the onboard RCD even on the low 3...
Plastic capping on bare blockwork.
Oval Egatube in chases.
Always extended into the ceiling an inch and tight to the KO box, although not considered a rewireable method you can quite often attach and pull new cables down at a future date if needed.
It wont work on a RFC if there is just a loose connection on the RFC. But will/should work on a series arc from socket to appliance. Providing the load after the arc is 2.5amps (1.5amps For Electrium devices).
The trouble is most internal appliance wiring is parallel so it depends where the...
This is a interesting take on AFDD from Paul M and JW from the E5 group. It pretty much highlights all the issues we've been talking about.
skip to around the 40min mark to hear their views
I agree, I know alot of electrical fires are due to faulty white goods, there has been talk that it is in fact the white goods industry are pushing for us to incorporate AFDD to protect plugged in equipment.
It all seems like a box ticking exercise to me, there's no data I'm aware of.
Don't think that's a Wylex enclosure. It's a PEP enclosure. Ive only ever seen one once and that was on EICR a few week back.. Funny enough that had a few mixed mcbs too.
Depends on the busbar.
The newer wylex miniture RCBOs only fit on the finger busbar as they don't have the slit in the front, also the busbar does have a kink in it where it connects to the L out of the main switch.
Trouble is the older Wylex busbar isn't as easy to get hold of, they do sell a...
Funny enough I've had to look at a job today, the customer wants me to remove all his Heatmiser RF stats and install Nest everywhere. I'm going to have to remove the relay box as their is no trigger input for each zone.( RF trigger only).
There's only 2 zones on the UFH and the customer is...
