Was the transformer you found lying around for LEDs? or just a bog standard 12v tranny. LEDs that I've come across need a LED specific driver. Better replace like for like and see if that works before messing around with the circuitry/ installation.
Friends over from Goa, and no work til Tuesday. We're going to Victorious Festival in Portsmouth Saturday and Sunday, should be a hoot. Most likely Monday'll be spent recovering!
If you come across anything else that you don't understand, try just googling the adjective and try working it out from there. Then you could check your answer on here!
I have a rhino 6000. The most useful feature for me is you can connect it to a laptop, "design" the label and see exactly how the label will look before printing.
Thanks for the replies, chaps! I did refer to chapter 7, but it indicated that 7909 was the standard to follow. If you are confident that 7671 will suffice, I'll accept your advice, and responsibility as well! The main supply socket will be protected by 100mA S type. An acoustic gig with lots of...
Morning all! My local pub is having an outdoor music event this Saturday for charity. Chatting with the Landlady I discovered that they were going to power it all with a few extension leads!! Through a friend in the events industry I've managed to borrow an outdoor distribution box, RCD...
Unless the shed is next to the house, and even then I'd reconsider, I generally wouldn't RCD the SWA. The SWA doesn't need it, but the final circuits do; give them their own RCD or RCBO in the shed CU. Re earlier replies, Distance (volt drop) and demand ( design current) and de future (up...
Everything has an IP rating, whether or not it's tight enough for your clients requirements is another thing! I wouldn't recommend making one up for kit you've designed and manufactured. We have our cabs type tested at a test house (3rd party independent), who also do if necessary vibration...
A quick update. We got a new batch in and still the same results when testing on Auto, BUT test at 1/2 only, not Auto, and it passes.Doesn't seem right to me that it fails during one procedure, but passes in another. I'm going to get in touch with Kewtech and see if they can shed any light.
Thanks Ray, these cabs are empty at the minute apart from an IEC distribution strip. This morning I tested one of the RCDs on the bench, same results, then tested an ABB one right next to it and it was fine. They're getting returned. Thanks to all for your input.
Admittedly, no, there was still an IEC dis strip connected. The only load there in theory is a neon indicator. I'll re-test when I get in early tomorrow. Thanks for all the ideas, sleep well chaps!
Tested with probes, ( there's something not right about the word "probes"!) at RCD load side, tried another tester, same make, 2 years younger, tried a different test supply circuit, tried swearing at it, a lot, ( that usually works). They're A type , in anticipation of a rectifier being fitted...
Testing some new cabinets today which had in them a PDU with a 30mA rcd upfront as main switch. ( We build among other stuff, communications cabinets for highways, railways, etc). First one tested tripped on 1/2 fault current. Tried another cab, same thing. Did a ramp test, (tester is Kewtech...
