    Messed up order.

It is not legal to sell returned goods as new. If they are doing this they should be done. Currys have been done for doing this.

    Radials V Ring mains

Hm not so sure about that. Not only would it need to be 110v it would need to be 50Hz as well.

"The Great Debate" - Plug Top or just Plug?

Dare I say it? You are not very bright are you?

    Oven supply question

    Sorry, I made a mistake.

    Radials V Ring mains

Are there 110v supplies for special purposes? Would be pretty pointless in a country that has a public supply or 120v.

    Getting part p registered again

Part P is a building regulation, not a form of registration for sparks. There is NO SUCH THING as part P registration. If you think there is show a part P registration certificate.

"The Great Debate" - Plug Top or just Plug?

You'll find they are in the plug bottom. Dare I say it? You are not very bright are you?

    Oven supply question

So you went for the bodge. Nothing to be proud of. As said by Andy78: "There is specific guidance in the wiring regulations that any cooking load over 2kW should not be permanently connected into a socket ring circuit to avoid overloading any one portion of the ring circuit. This could be...

Understood. I know there are some very bright sparks. But sadly not all.

"The Great Debate" - Plug Top or just Plug?

Plug tops are not rewireable, plugs are. You are not very bright are you? But anyway that is rubbish. Many items below 700w have switch on surges that would instantly blow a 3 amp fuse. Anyone who decides on a fuse on the running load of an appliance is not very bright. The fuse is to protect...

"The Great Debate" - Plug Top or just Plug?

Bulbs have built in protection. Most of the rest of the world don't have fuses in plugs and don't come to harm.

"The Great Debate" - Plug Top or just Plug?

How? There is nowhere to put a fuse in the top.

"The Great Debate" - Plug Top or just Plug?

Not many I agree. You are right about manufacturers. Most don't know the fuse is to protect the cable not the lamp on the end of it.

"The Great Debate" - Plug Top or just Plug?

With incandescent lights a 3 amp fuse will often blow when the bulb fails, a 5amp one won't. But the fuse is to protect the cable not the lamp on the end of it. As you say: some Electricians aren't very bright.

No. Colours are harmonised these days.

"The Great Debate" - Plug Top or just Plug?

Rubbish. It is still a plug. A plug top is its top, cover, lid, whatever. Some electricians are not very bright, are they?
  19. G

"The Great Debate" - Plug Top or just Plug?

No. It is a plug for a bath (you would need to quote the size in mm). It is a plug for an electrical device (you will need to quote the size 5A, 15A, 13A etc and the fuse value if the latter). So E.G. I need a 35mm plug for my bath, preferably white. OR. I need a 13A plug with a 5A fuse for...

    Treadmill problems again...

Maybe so. The earth pin is part of the plug not its top.
