Just one word of warning.
I thought I was indescribable.
I thought my aches and pains were down to wear and tear from my abusing my body at work.
They weren’t, I had cancer, I ignored it.
I ended up paralysed.
Look after yourself when it goes wrong it can go wrong big time and you might not...
One last point I missed.
Just because fob remote control units are available, perhaps from well known online marketplaces, does not mean that they are compliant.
Nothing is guaranteed to be compliant, hence why the law requires that the end users have to get the compliance checked before they...
I know exactly what a “chip extractor” is.
You might consider it silly, but it’s the law.
Emergency stop functions are no longer considered a primary means if safeguarding.
They are primarily for the protection of the equipment and prevention of “collateral” damage.
The regulations prevent...
Emergency stops, if originally fitted to the equipment, will need to be re-implemented, otherwise the person modifying the control system, will become the manufacturer of the equipment in law.
Any control circuit modifications will need to comply with the relevant requirements of the law, PUWER...
That drawing is 2018, and thus the machine is CE marked, thus covered by the law, in the UK SMSR.
To modify you need to comply with PUWER at least, and you would be taking on the design and liability for the safety function yourself.
PUWER guides you to SMSR which guides you to the HD's.
So for...
I always thought that as it started as "Con_ductor_ Tester", it was ductor, rather than "Con_ductor Tester_".
Though I wouldn't want to argue or labour the point as E&V have been gone a LONG time now!
Most of the modern references are to Ductor rather than Ducter, which adds to the confusion.
They are a 4 wire bridge measurement type device, so they automatically "null" out the lead resistance and you can even use them with two 50m wander leads within limits.
For me it was well worth the cost.
Very similar concept to the high current test used in PAT.
Ductor isn't a trade name AFAIK.
They are also known as I said above as high current low resistance testers, or micro/milli Ohmeters.
Megger DLRO10HD, DLRO200, Chauvin Arnoux CA6240/6255/6292 for example.
I have the DLRO10HD.
@Pete999 have you not heard of Ductor testing?
High current low resistance testing.
Megger DLRO is a very common unit.
Mine is only 10A, but they are available up to 600A they stress the conductors to a higher level than the low current testing done by a typical MFT, or DMM.
They also offer a...
The issue I have with PSSR is that whilst it states "sockets" and includes sockets in regulation 3 "Interpretation", includes them in reg 4 "Electrical devices to which Part I applies", and goes on in para 6 "Requirements for electrical devices" therein it specified compliance for plugs to...
The law is not as specific as to give the level of detail you seek.
The EHSR’s of the law merely require the product to be safe.
A BS is not law and is not mandatory.
However deviations from a BS would mean that the manufacturers would have to be able to justify the same or greater safety than...
Hassle on mobile devices though and I've not been at a computer so much recently.
Plus I have enough in having to know the details of half a dozen pieces of law, keep up with the changes in these and the several hundred standards that are linked to the product safety legislation without getting...
I rarely post because there are so many adverts on here I can’t be bothered most of the time to have to put up with the barrage, and I don’t like the cookie policy. As I understand it it requires you to allow too much cross site tracking and persistent cookies. I don’t believe that they are...
I didn't see that stated anywhere. ?♂️
The USA are catching up with the ISO & IEC standards requirements as they are members of both organisations.
They are just a bit slower than the rest of the world because of the difference in the way they blame people and mandate PPE rather than addressing...
