NICEIC REPORT - feedback on remedial works costs

£945 + VAT! Living out here in the sticks you would be lucky to be able to charge £650 + VAT, perils of London rates I suppose. Could explain why some people down here with holiday homes pay us to drive up for the day to do works at thier london homes, thought it was because we do a good job...

    Appliance repair ?

There are several appliance repair people in my area, they don't get a very high hourly rate so if we have an appliance repair we pass it to one of these guys and he recommends us for electrics (unless its one of our contacts then he will subby to us for the repair)

    UK Please help

For the feed into a metal consumer unit it is good practice to have the earth / CPC using the same hole as its corresponding tails, yours appears not to be.

Mental health in the electrical industry

We have a chap in our team just like you. He used to have his own business, but as he got older he worried more to a point where he couldn't function. He is an old school friend, so we took him on as effectively a electricians mate - he has no responsibility and he knows we will check and test...

UK When replacing a board do you need to check every socket?

you should check the r1 + r2 at two locations to identify any inconsistancies that may be there - you wouldn't pick up, say, a figure of 8 ring just testing at one point.

Thank you, nice to have someone else's opinions, didn't spot they had ticked the RCD test notice. I think that she will get us to change the DB for her as she is not happy with her letting agency.

Would you all mind ripping into this

    HELP! EICR advice please

Get another electrician to check his findings (oh, you have done that by posting here) - they will probably tell you that the codings are too harse. Then get someone else to quote for what is actually needed . (Note to self - must put my prices up!)

    Missing grommets

I have (very rarely) seen cables damaged by a lack of a grommet - once by a front door which over the years must of caused the cable to move minutely when the door was slammed and eventually caused an issue and once by plugs being pushed in and out. Because of this I C3 them as there is a...
