Dodgy trade pictures for your amusement! - 1 Million Views!

Not exactly a dodgy trade pic but at a small job yesterday noticed the doors on the CU cupboard just inside the front door - why would anyone bother ?!! The current owners have lived there for 3 years and never spotted it ! :)

I don't think you need either as I believe the grant scheme has ended ?

UK Does this henley block on the incoming tails of TT have a fuse in?

Those browns are an old outer sheath colour, more a dark maroon really. the basic insulation will be red and black inside.

Type of supply tncs or tt

I think they'll only accept TT for what they class as temporary supplies but once the fixed installation is complete it's fine to connect to the DNO earth.

Type of supply tncs or tt

The supply cable size looks more like concentric so I'd say they've fitted the external earth block for TNCS.

    230v between N+E and 0v between L+E

I'd try plugging in a simple socket tester at a convenient socket or 2 which will instantly give you an idea of whether it's just the shower circuit that's reverse polarity or the entire installation. I wonder if there's been a meter upgrade recently ?

Metal blanking plate to protect from wood burner stove?

When you compare the relative ease and low cost of getting the cables well out of the way of the woodburner with the potential future problems coupled with serious access issues after it's installed I'd say it's the only sensible option really.

Metal blanking plate to protect from wood burner stove?

I don't think that would do very much to prevent the heat getting to the pvc insulation and eventual heat damage may well be inevitable. Much better to disconnect the cables and reconnect together as required remotely from the Wood Burner, I know that's probably easier said that done but they...

Has anybody had Ever ready flat plate 13a socket usb outlets … what a pile of rubbish

I think Everready and Eveready are two brands with the latter missing an 'r' and cunningly designed like the original to fool people.

UK Seeking advice on quote to replace CU

I fitted a new Immersion Heater switch last week, it's a 20amp switched live and switched neutral. :)

UK Seeking advice on quote to replace CU

When it's off both L & N to the relevant circuit are isolated so regardless of what you want to call it it's double pole. :)

UK Seeking advice on quote to replace CU

I'd say that's a very fair price - a lot of people also don't realise that a good and properly registered Electrician has considerable overheads to cover, I'd suggest more than any other trade. 10 hours for thorough testing, the actual CU replacement and the certification is also realistic and...

    TT earthing enquiry.

I've just realised that the OP seems to be based in Africa so I'm not competent to advise, but surely there must be RCD requirements ?!

    TT earthing enquiry.

Without any intention of causing offence I believe that you have a very poor knowledge of requirements for protection against shock and I strongly advise you to get an Electrician in for safety's sake.

    TT earthing enquiry.

Exactly, without any additional RCD protection and say a Ze of 80 ohms you'd have a dead short live/earth current of around 3 amps, wouldn't worry even a 6a MCB so all the earthed metalwork sits at mains voltage. :)
