    Shop sign lighting

Can anyone offer any advice with goose/swan neck exterior sign lighting? Iv been looking for a while now and most seem to be not suitable for exterior use. I'd like to be able to attach directly to a galv conduit box. Has anyone fitted anything similar?

    Company vehicle HMRC

May have the opportunity of a company vehicle which can be used for private use. I was informed the HMRC will tax for the use. How does that work? Is it a 1 time cost per year? Is it a set value?

Cooker hood wiring, 3 metre rule

Thankyou for that info. If I was to terminate say a short run of 1.5mm2 from load side of the switch to hood, in normal working conditions, if a piece of current using equipment (in this case an oven) is using an amount of current that exceeds the maximum allowed for that short section, would...

Cooker hood wiring, 3 metre rule

I was always under the impression that the fuse protects the load only?

Cooker hood wiring, 3 metre rule

I need to install a cooker hood. Only close supply is the cooker switch. My plan was to install a FCU next to the switch and then terminate hood, fused appropriately. My concern was, if the cooker supply is 6mm > I think I'm going to struggle terminating 2x6mm2 cables from the supply side of...

    DNO/supplier/meter certification

Yes exactly that. Southern came to change meter, said the cutout needed changing (I dont know the reasons why). Western power changed it, he rang them back to book a time to change the meter and they have said they need a certificate

    DNO/supplier/meter certification

Brother in law phoned me, he said he is being passed from person to person about a certificate. He has had his cutout changed by western power at the request of southern electric in preparation to change his meter. Southern electric are now saying they require a certificate from western power...

    Installing data points

I'm about to start pulling in the data cat 6 cable from the loft down to every room. I plan to have a switch in the loft which will then be connected to the router. My question is about cable routes and boxes. Iv only ever seen data outlets either surface mounted or in recessed in stud walls...

    What Did I do Wrong.

I'm going to stick my neck out here and admit I dont fully understand all the details. Perhaps It would be best for me to draw it out. However, taking an educated guess I'd say the rsring of the resistor is too high?

    attention all trainees

I think that group is a little confusing. Most of the threads in that group could have just been posted in the trainee section. Also, how do you navigate to this group? Maybe I'm just being daft but I cant see a link through the forums sub menu??

    attention all trainees

I'm not sure tbh. When I initially started using this section it was fairly busy (posts everyday), but overtime it's got less and less. There must still be students studying and eager to learn, although I would imagine covid has altered this years students progress and new starters. Maybe that...

    Flexible Conduit (N.Bundy job)

I think there is a training issue here too. When I did my training at college there wasnt the much emphasis on the visual aesthetics of clipping and most of it was just based on "it looks passable" It was only through watching GSH electrical videos that I realised there was methods and...
