I have owned a kirby for the last 10 years and love it. Iv replaced a few parts in the past as they are generally maintenance friendly. However, the machine started making a strange rattling noise the other day. Took it apart and noticed the commutator is missing a tooth and look very warn. I'm...
A large portion of the attraction to veto bags is based on image rather than functionality. Dont get me wrong, they are well made, well thought out and functional bags but not 3 or 4 times the value of a fatmax bag etc.
Btw, I had 2 fatmax bags over 5 years. I now own a veto. Looking back in...
I cant help but be concerned that one of those levers could catch anything when pushing the socket back. Some backboxes are tight with cables coming from multiple directions.
I'm probably just being over cautious
I tend to daydream alot when I'm working alone. I always end up thinking about how sparks in the past would be doing the same work in doing and how it may be more difficult. Power tools are such a big improvement. Drills, drivers, angle grinders, saws etc.... I job that I could do in 1 hour...
I use a knipex one that slightly cuts the insulation of t+e. It's pretty good. Nor had it long and heard it wears out quick so I will have to see on that
Iv got 2 large bins full of scrap cable. Mostly 2.5 t+e, 1.5 t+e, flexes and singles.
I need to get rid but I'm unsure if to scrap as is or invest in a stripper to get the bright copper.
What are people experiences with all the varying strippers available? Iv seen £15 things on ebay up to...
Going through the company it certainly wasnt worth it. That's why I thought about doing it myself. If I could shave the install cost by 50% then it would be feasible
Had someone round the house the other day looking at installing solar panels and battery to my roof.
Best solution seemed to be 6 panels with a battery. However the install costs were still higher than I expected. Between 10-12k for the set up.
It got me thinking if its possible with some...
Anyone used those wiska slim tail kit glands?
Tried using one today. Not sure it's worth the extra work.
Had a 32mm knockout on the board. The gland specifies 32mm. I put it in and it just kept falling out.
Decided to drill a slightly smaller hole. Got to 32mm on the cone drill bit and it...
They defo want the 2 way switching.
I think I may just take a feed from the supply cable that goes to the 1st switch and run it to the 2nd switch. That way the 1st gang on the 2and switch works as it did and the other has a perm supply and switch return using a t+e cable
At the first 2 way switch there is a supply twin and earth and a 2 core and earth.
At the other 2 way switch there is a twin and earth to the existing lights and the other end of the 3 core and earth.
The floor boards are easily removed in the upstairs. I could interrupt the supply to the other switch, JB a perm line supply to the switch. I'd rather not have the extra joints though
I need to add an outside light from an existing 2 way circuit.
I plan to change the plate from 1 gang to 2 gang which will accommodate both outside light and existing living room lights.
The problem is that there is no permanent live at the switch I need to feed from. The way its wired means...
