    YouTube electricians

Maybe there is some respect to be given to anyone willing to film themselves and then upload to YouTube. Almost like boxers, no matter how poor, got to give them respect for having the nuts to put themselves wide open

What tool backpack does the forum recommend?

Not quite. Qualified this time last year. I need to remove "trainee" from my profile. Not sure how I do it?

Although that was a very bad decision and one that he wont ever live down, the majority of his stuff is alright. Not great but ticks the boxes (most the time)

What tool backpack does the forum recommend?

Iv used the fatmax one for 4 years. It does the job but its large and clunky. Iv just treated myself to a small veto bag. Iv got everything that was in the fatmax but smaller and lighter but surprisingly more durable and feels quality. Expensive mind

    Ducting for cables

Builders just about to start excavating for our 2 storey side extension. I thought it would be wise to have some ducting in place as I wish to run a circuit to the garden shed, plus maybe data and options for future supplies. For the shed I dont predict anything bigger than a 3 core 6mm SWA...

    YouTube electricians

Savery is without doubt the most entertaining, knowledgeable and easy to follow for me. There are some others that seem to try and do a good job, seem diligent and take on board criticism with the view of improving and then there are some that dont want to hear anything unless its positive...

    Spd specifications

Thanks pc1966. I think that pretty much covers it all :-)

    Spd specifications

Iv been tasked with upgrading a 16th edition board with a schneider 6 + 8 way acti9 board with spd protection. SPD was specified for me so I dont have to perform the calculation, however, I am stuck with the specifics of the devices themselves. Firstly, can the device hang of the back of an...

    Help with lighting layout

What would happen if you have more than 1 dimmer for set up? Think they are looking to have simmers on the spots and pendant. That means switch 1 would be a 3 gang dimmer. Intermediate would be a standard switch and switch 3 another dimmer. The simmers they have do not require a neutral

    Help with lighting layout

Done a quick diagram. Does this look right? All neutrals/earths will be linked out at the switch. Essentially the twin and earth leaving switch 1 going to switch 3 is acting as common link and a supply of neutral and earth? The permanent live for the 3 way and intermediate comes from the...

    Help with lighting layout

Unfortunatly yes. I initially thought that would be enough but that was based on old style of wiring to a rose plate.

    Help with lighting layout

Thanks lucien. Like I said on the first post lighting is not my strong point. I dont do enough of it to be proficient on the ways in which a set up like this could be set up. FYI I am recently qualified, completing both my NVQ and AM2s, also have my 2391. Passing these qualifications means sod...

    Help with lighting layout

Helping a friend out to finish the lighting that has been 1st fixed but the electrician has not returned and cannot be contacted. I thought I had my head around it but then when they said they wanted dimmers it dawned on me that they may all require neutrals and now I'm doubting I have the...

    Strange fault

Thanks Lucien, I didn't check resistance on the switch, just continuity which was open circuit no matter what the switch. Switch must be a duff. Could have been caused by the original fault. I am back there on the 12th and plan to find this fault. This is my method of attack. Break circuit...

    Strange fault

Thanks, on my previous post I uploaded a photo of the setup. I have 2 of these set ups running to 2 independent 3 position switches. 1 for the side and 1 for the back. I cannot see any issues with the design of the set up?

    Strange fault

    A 3 position switch. L1, l2 and common.
